Nissan celebrates the production of 5 million vehicles at its Canton, Mississippi vehicle assembly plant. This milestone represents nearly 20 years of Nissan production activity in Mississippi and paves the way for electric vehicle production as part of Nissan Ambition 2030, the company's long-term vision.

For nearly two decades, Nissan Canton employees have been assembling high-quality, award-winning vehicles. The opening of the plant in 2003 brought the automotive industry to Mississippi for the first time and has contributed to the state's economic growth ever since. Already having a rich history, the plant's potential looks toward a future transformation that will bring two all-new, all-electric models to the U.S. market.

"This week, the Canton team celebrated a major milestone for our plant, showing how far we've come since the founding of vehicle manufacturing in Mississippi," said David Sliger, vice president of manufacturing at the Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant. "Nissan Canton's strength is rooted in its people, which will take us to new heights as we continue toward the EV revolution for our company."

The plant has become a fundamental "web" in Mississippi, creating more than 25,000 jobs across the state, contributing more than $20 million to local nonprofits and logging 12,000 volunteer hours to build stronger communities. In the U.S., Nissan's manufacturing footprint spans the country with nearly 15,000 employees, more than 400 parts and supplier partners and 11 parts distribution centers. Collectively, the group has built more than 19 million vehicles and 13 million engines.
