Alfa Romeo

In 2019, Antonio Giovinazzi became the first Italian driver since 2011 to participate fully in a Formula 1 season. He has so far competed in 59 races with the team, including two races with Sauber in 2017, when he replaced the injured Pascal Wehrlein.

Antonio is an extremely popular guide for the public, but also for the other members of the team. He was an excellent professional and helped the team evolve by always giving the 100% on and off the track. His best result was a 5η position in the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, and provided important moments for the team, including leading the Singapore race in 2019, as well as being in Q3 of qualifying on several occasions.

Alfa Romeo wishes Antonio, an excellent driver and man, all the best for his future as he opens a new chapter in his career.

Jean Philippe Imparato, CEO of Alfa Romeo: "Alfa Romeo is extremely grateful to Antonio Giovinazzi for his important contribution to the team over the years. Antonio embodied the Italian spirit of the brand and was a true ambassador for the brand.

It is no coincidence that Alfa Romeo brought an Italian driver back to Formula 1 after 8 years, with Antonio being the only Italian driver in the championship for 3 years.

We are proud to have written important pages together in Alfa Romeo's glorious racing history.

We wish him all the best for his future."

Friédéric Vasseur, Head of the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN: "Saying goodbye to a driver is never easy, especially in the case of Antonio, who has been part of the team for such a long time. As we go our separate ways, we will always remember the good times, but also the lessons we learned from the difficulties we faced, knowing that together we evolved as a team. We wish Antonio all the best for his future after this season is over. Until then, we have three more races to try to achieve good results together and finish the year strong."
