Η Ferrari is working on the successor to 812. We probably won't see it until late this year or early next. However, a new spy video published by Motor1.com reveals that the development of the supercar is continuing intensively. No new details about its appearance are revealed, but the test car is seen gliding around the Fiorano race track in Italy, with the sound of its exhaust notes.
The video shows Ferrari continuing to hide the car under a heavily camouflaged modified Roma body. So, one can't draw any firm conclusions about its design. It looks like the supercharged V8-powered Supercar at first glance, but on closer analysis, it becomes clear that the test vehicle has wider wheel arches and a redesigned front bumper with additional intakes to improve engine cooling capabilities!
Ferrari does not reach its limits around Fiorano at full power. However, it seems that its driver is having a little too much fun behind the wheel. Although relatively low-speed, he slides the supercar around the many corners of the track.
We know little about the new V12 powertrain. The 6.5-litre atmospheric V12 that powers the 812 Competizione produces 830bhp and 692Nm of torque, and the automaker has already revealed that it is working on a more powerful version. However, it did not reveal which model the improved engine could power. It seems more likely to power the successor to the 812, but the automaker is also working on a replacement for the LaFerrari.
Most car manufacturers are looking to electrify their range. This will happen at Ferrari, with the automaker's first EV expected to be unveiled in 2025. However, the iconic brand will continue to build internal combustion engines for as long as possible, including at least a new generation of its glorious V12.
Ferrari is hiding the next-generation car under a modified Roma body, indicating that it is still in the early stages of its development cycle. With the new year officially upon us, we should see the new Ferrari get its production body before it reaches its launch in 2024.
