Not only have the most hi-tech Audi models using hybrid technology arrived in Greece, but they are also available at preferential prices! The reason for this is the Audi A6, A7, A8, Q7 and Q8, which are even more hi-tech, as they are now available in a hybrid version! The three premium executive sedans as well as the two top Audi SUVs adopt hybrid technology as standard equipment, in 12 or 48 Volt versions.
This technology (mild hybrid) gives them significantly better fuel economy. At the same time, while the range is being enriched with new, much more powerful engines, the models - due to the reduced tax due to the hybrid technology - are offered at much lower prices than before, with customer benefits of up to €14,000! It is worth adding that in addition to the above models, hybrid technology is also used in some two-litre petrol engines, in the Audi A4, A5 and Q5.
The hybrid technology in the four-cylinder engines of the models runs on 12 volts and the V6 on 48 volts and ensures energy recovery during braking. In this phase, the belt-driven starting alternator, the heart of the hybrid technology system, supplies electricity to a separate lithium-ion battery under the luggage compartment.
For a wide range of speeds (for example, in the case of the Q8 between 55 and 160 km/h) the car travels with the engine off, saving fuel. The lithium-ion battery provides the energy needed to start the engine automatically and imperceptibly when necessary. The energy benefit is far from negligible: for example, in the case of the Q8, the hybrid technology reduces fuel consumption by 0.7 litres per 100 kilometres.
Especially in the Greek market, the application of hybrid technology has a very important economic benefit. The registration fee is reduced by 50%, with the resulting tax benefit being equivalent to that of a plug-in hybrid-electric model.
