"With the New Lancia Ypsilon, the first car of the new era of the brand, we start again from Italy. Its design is inspired by the brand's glorious past, now reinterpreted in a modern key. The model represents the ultimate expression of comfort and vehicle design, characterized by technology and connectivity at the top level of the class, but always simple and intuitive, with the perfect Lancia style. A result also achieved thanks to the collaboration with Cassina, which, together with Centro Stile in Turin, has designed a real living room inspired by warm Italian homes," said Luca Napolitano, CEO of the Lancia brand, during the official presentation of the model.

The collector's edition

The presentation focused on the special first and collector's edition, Lancia Ypsilon Edizione Limitata Cassina available in Italy in 1906 certified and numbered units, as a tribute to Lancia's birth year, validates the link between two distinguished representatives in their respective fields, automotive and interior design, and represents the evolution of a path that began with the creation of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE concept interiors: the two brands are in fact linked by shared values, such as an appeal to research and innovation, respect for the past and tradition, and attention to environmental issues.

Combining tradition and innovation, in line with the brand's clean and radical design language, the NUOVA LANCIA YPSILON YPSILON EDIZIONE LIMITATA CASSINA is the first car inspired by the world of Italian furniture and represents the ultimate expression of design, comfort and well-being on board.

The model reflects the exceptional attention paid to every stylistic detail, from the choice of materials to the choice of colours, with the use of blue, an iconic colour in the Lancia tradition, running through both the interior and exterior of the car.

A soft velvet in 100% recycled blue yarn surrounds the seats, characterised by the "Cannelloni" pattern and double stitching, while the same shade is adopted on the dashboard and door and dashboard inserts, creating an elegant and coordinated interior.

Lancia Blue also distinguishes the exterior of the model, which looks unique, elegant and contemporary. The hue is combined here with the black of the dark diamond-coated alloy wheels, resulting in a refined and homogeneous visual effect, without the chrome.

Another of the most important distinctive features of the NUOVA LANCIA YPSILON EDIZIONE LIMITATA CASSINA is the multifunctional Cassina coffee table, an unprecedented design element in plastic of organic origin that highlights the brand's manufacturing expertise and the first coffee table used in a car, thanks to which Lancia, in line with its historic values, creates a welcoming and inviting space. The interior of the car is transformed into an authentic "living room", capable of guaranteeing that sense of comfort that characterises Italian homes: a harmonious and elegant space.
Italianness, comfort and reinterpretation of tradition are among the values that have guided the two brands in this collaboration, where reinterpreting tradition means redesigning Lancia's tradition using innovative, recycled and recyclable materials, as is the case with the main elements of the recreated "living room". An example is the reinterpretation of a historical and iconic material, such as Lancia fabric, which is now presented with a new identity through a contemporary material, such as the velvet made of 100% recycled yarn on the seat and back of the "Cannelloni" woven armchairs, the rest of whose structure is made of PVC, also recycled. Electric, massage and heated seats that convert into a real armchair to maximize well-being on board the vehicle, also thanks to the high acoustic comfort.

The model, powered by a 100% electric motor, offers a range of up to 403* km on the combined WLTP cycle, while fast recharging allows the battery to be charged from 20 to 80% in just 24 minutes or 100 km in 10 minutes. The New Lancia Ypsilon is supported by Free2move Charge, a complete and integrated 360° ecosystem designed to seamlessly charge and manage the car's energy to meet all customers' needs at home or on the road.

The new Lancia Ypsilon redefines the historic front grille in a contemporary way, now redefined through three beams of light and displaying the Lancia lettering found on all future models, the iconic round LED tail lights inspired by the legendary Lancia Stratos, and the innovative S infotainment system. A.L.A. (Sound and Audio). A.L.A. (Sound Air Light Augmentation), a key pillar of Lancia's effortless technology, along with Level 2 Autonomous Driving, which enables safer off-road travel, simplifying the vehicle experience.

The new Lancia Ypsilon is a smart city car. The parking assistance system enhances the car's ease of driving and manoeuvrability in urban environments, thanks to front and rear cameras and sensors that facilitate parking manoeuvres. The two 10.25" displays (instrument panel and digital radio) provide a clear display of driving-related information and are customisable in both layout and colour. Technology equipment is rounded out with a keyless entry and start system and, for those who can't do without their personal device, a wireless phone charger and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

The New Lancia Ypsilon is the first step in the renaissance of the brand, whose clear and ambitious electrification strategy is progressing in line with Stellantis' "Dare Forward" strategic plan.

Lancia and Cassina, two Italian brands of excellence

The new Lancia Ypsilon is the first car of the brand's new era and perfectly embodies the new path and the new way of being Lancia.

The collaboration between Lancia and Cassina takes concrete form in the NEW LANCIA YPSILON EDIZIONE LIMITATA CASSINA, through which the two brands, which excel in their respective fields, continue what they started with the creation of the interiors of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE concept.

Combining tradition and innovation, in line with the brand's clean and radical design language, NUOVA LANCIA YPSILON EDIZIONE LIMITATA CASSINA represents the ultimate expression of design, comfort and well-being on board, thanks to the collaboration with Cassina, a brand of Italian excellence in the field of high-end furnishing, reflected in the attention to stylistic details, from the choice of materials to the choice of colours.

The common path is inspired by the "Cassina Perspective", or the company's vision of combining the most innovative products with the symbols of modernism to create welcoming environments according to a unique code of design excellence.

The symbol of this collaboration and the distinctive element of the NUOVA LANCIA YPSILON EDIZIONE LIMITATA CASSINA is the multifunctional Cassina coffee table, an unprecedented design element that underlines the brand's manufacturing expertise and the first table used in a car, thanks to which Lancia, in line with its historic values, creates a welcoming and inviting space. The coffee table, made of organic plastic with leather upholstery, is the ultimate expression of craftsmanship.

Thanks to the presence of the innovative multifunctional coffee table, the interior of the car is transformed into an authentic "living room", able to guarantee that sense of comfort that characterises Italian homes: a space to live in to create a perfect, harmonious and elegant composition.

Italianness, iconicity, innovation, research and respect for tradition, as well as attention to environmental issues, are the values that have led the two brands on this path. Respect for tradition means redesigning Lancia's tradition using innovative, recycled and recyclable materials, as is the case with the main components of the recreated "living room", and products with processes aimed at greater sustainability. An example is the reinterpretation of a historical and iconic material, such as Lancia fabric, which is now presented with a new identity through a contemporary material: the seats, characterised by the "Cannelloni" pattern and a double stitching, have the seat and back made of velvet from 100% recycled yarn in blue, a historically iconic colour for Lancia, while the rest of the structure is made of recycled PVC. The same blue hue is also used on the dashboard and the inserts of the door and dashboard panels, creating an elegant and coordinated interior atmosphere.

The new external design language

The new Lancia Ypsilon is the first production car to implement Lancia Pu+Ra Design, Lancia's new design language (a name born from the combination of the words "Puro" and "Radicale"), unique in its kind and destined to last. Emphasizing the combination of tradition and innovation, the model takes the brand into the new era through a language that is not typically automotive: volumes are created by successive layering, adding and intersecting elemental and iconic forms. In fact, the exteriors feature the soft, elegant, pure and sensual forms of the Aurelia and Flaminia, combined with more contemporary expressions of radicalism and simplicity, inspired by the brand's sporting history embodied by the famous Stratos and Delta, as well as by the language of architecture, interior design and fashion.

The reference to the brand's most violent soul emerges clearly at the rear of the car, which features the richest lighting system in the class in terms of technology and extension: the new lancia Ypsilon actually features the iconic full LED round headlights, a reference to the unforgettable Lancia Stratos, a legendary model for the rally world. The two headlamps now contain a new design element, the letter Y, an extreme symbolic composition placed horizontally within the perimeter lines and flanking the new Lancia letters, made in satin stainless steel finish and distinguished by the original font that draws its inspiration from one of the Italian distinctions most closely linked to the brand's history, fashion, "signing" the future of the brand to make it desirable and always contemporary.
A perfect dialogue between purity and radicalism, also highlighted by the Ypsilon inscription that appears on the rear and, through its writing, is inspired by iconic Lancia historic cars that are symbols of purity, such as the Fulvia, Flavia and Flaminia.

The updated lettering is also the star of the front end, gloss black, inspired by the Lancia Beta Montecarlo. Here the Lancia letters stand out above a modern reinterpretation of the historic mask, the chalice, projecting it into the future through futuristic lighting: three beams of LED light make this iconic element memorable and recognisable from afar, both day and night. This double signature, the chalice script, will mark the front of all three of the brand's new models: a "chalice of light" that essentially embraces the brand name and clearly defines Lancia's new identity as it enters the electric age.

There is also the refinement of the new logo, a Progressive Classic element that marks the brand's entry into electric mobility, reinterpreting all the distinctive elements of the historic brand, the steering wheel, flag, shield, spear and letters, but reinterpreting them with a modern key to project them into the future. All these brand components are symbols of Lancia's nobility and heritage, simplified in terms of lines and shapes and placed in a new balance, able to express innovation, premiumness and Italian-ness with a touch of eclecticism, given by the asymmetrical spear.

Effortless technology for a class-leading city car

The Nuova Lancia Ypsilon is a smart city car that stands out in the urban environment for its ease of driving and flexibility and for a range of class-leading features. In fact, with the Nuova Lancia Ypsilon, the brand's vision in terms of technology and infotainment is realised. Lancia's technology is simple, effortless and intuitive to facilitate the customer's in-car experience, welcoming them and making them "feel at home" wherever they are.

The pillar of this concept is S.A.L.A., an iconic and intelligent interface that encompasses the key parameters for creating a comfortable driving experience, in the perfect Lancia style. In Italian, "SALA" means saloon, but in this case it stands for Sound Air Light Augmentation, an infotainment system that brings together the audio, climate and lighting functions, allowing the driver and passenger to adjust the interior atmosphere at the touch of a button.

The car's sound system was specially created by a Lancia sound designer. The air conditioning system is equipped with a high-performance filter capable of removing up to 99% of harmful particles for a healthier and more comfortable cabin. The lighting inside the car is fully customisable at the touch of a button on the display and can be used to create an exclusive atmosphere in combination with the ambient lighting function.

With the S.A.L.A. system, the "living room" of the New Lancia Ypsilon thus adapts to the mood of the moment, directly modifying the music, air and light inside the passenger compartment.

And the concept of "living room" is also expressed in other elements in the car's interior, such as the adjustable, massaging and heated electric seats, which are transformed into real armchairs with "Cannelloni" weave, with seats and backrests in velvet made of 100% recycled yarn in blue. Everything is made even more exciting by the high acoustic comfort of the cabin, which maximises well-being on board.

Life in the New Lancia Ypsilon is made even more relaxing thanks to a variety of devices. Particularly noteworthy are the keyless entry and keyless start and parking assist system, best-in-class standard equipment consisting of 180° view cameras and front and rear sensors to facilitate manoeuvring, as well as the dual display, the largest screen in the class with a total diagonal of 20.5″ and a 10.25″ digital radio instrument cluster, customizable in both layout and colours.

The S.A.L.A. is also equipped with CarPlay wireless and Android Auto as standard, a wireless phone charger and three USB-C slots, for those who can't do without their personal device. The infotainment is completed with the S.A.L.A. HUB, the virtual assistant that enhances the connection between car and driver, emphasizing the technological nature of the car. Finally, to complete the driving experience, the New Lancia Ypsilon is the only model in its class to feature Level 2 Autonomous Driving as standard, for safer driving in exotic environments and simplifying the driving experience, allowing Lancia customers to fully enjoy the atmosphere inside the car. Level 2 Autonomous Driving automatically adjusts speed and cruising trajectory through Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering. Level 2 Autonomous Driving, which can be activated between 30 and 150 km/h, includes Traffic Jam Assist with Stop&Go function, which guarantees autonomous restart for a more comfortable drive when stopped in traffic.

New Lancia Ypsilon, the first car of the brand's new era

The new Lancia Ypsilon in its all-electric version is the brand's first 100% electric car. The model represents the entry into the era of electrification, realizing its vision in terms of autonomy, recharging time and efficiency for market-leading performance.

With a 156 hp/115 kW power unit and a 51 kWh battery, making it best in class in the premium hatchback B segment, the New Ypsilon has a range of up to 403* km on the combined WLTP cycle and a quick 24-minute recharge (to go from the 20% to the 80%) or 100 km in 10 minutes. The car also consumes between 14.3 and 14.6 kWh per 100 km.

Lancia's clear and ambitious electrification strategy includes the introduction of three new models, one every two years. Today, the new Lancia Ypsilon is launched in the BEV version, which is powered by an all-electric powertrain. According to "Dare Forward", Stellantis' strategic plan, from 2026 Lancia will only offer 100% electric models.

Charging is easy anytime and anywhere, thanks to Free2move Charge

The new Lancia Ypsilon is supported by Free2move Charge, a complete and integrated 360° ecosystem for personalised charging and energy management, accessible to all Lancia customers.

Through competitive solutions, Lancia simplifies the charging process at home and on the road, for the best possible experience in an electric vehicle.

Free2move Charge Home offers residential customers support for the installation, financing and warranty of home charging systems, as well as other energy-related hardware and services.

Thanks to this modular structure, Free2move Charge delivers on e-ABC's promise, "easy to Always Be Charged", to always be charged with ease, thanks to an integrated system of charging hardware, software and services that covers all the needs of electric vehicle customers, anywhere and anytime.

The system is also structured to understand user needs and optimise overall energy management, thereby reducing overall usage costs and maximising environmental benefits.

Free2move Charge thus contributes to the achievement of the goals of Stellantis' "Dare Forward" strategic plan, which includes 100% battery electric vehicles in Europe by 2030.

New Lancia Ypsilon, style and innovation for a renewed audience

The new Lancia Ypsilon, the first hatchback in the B Premium segment of the entire Stellantis Group, demonstrates the central importance of comfort for the customer through an even more spacious interior: the car is actually longer, wider and equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, larger than the previous Ypsilon, features that give it a sleek and futuristic look.

The revolutionary model, compared to the past, reflects the characteristics of the target group for which it was designed: the customers of the New Lancia Ypsilon are younger and belong to the 40-45 age group. They are also characterized as style and technology innovation oriented, environmentally conscious and sensitive to the latest trends. The car therefore becomes an expression of themselves, an attractive projection of their urban and active lifestyle.

The return of Lancia to Europe

The new Lancia Ypsilon marks the return of the Lancia brand to Europe, concretising its internationalisation process and moving forward with its solid and ambitious roadmap, in line with Stellantis' strategic plan "Dare Forward", whose aim is to make Lancia a desirable, respected and trusted brand.

Starting in the first half of 2024, the Lancia brand will enter Europe with a network of more than 70 new dealerships in as many major cities, where the brand's future customers will reside. The first markets to be involved, mid-year, will be Belgium and the Netherlands, followed by France and Spain and, in 2025, Germany.

Three criteria guided the selection of countries.

  • The first is the love and passion for "Made in Italy" products, with Spain, Belgium and France topping the list.
  • The second criterion is the importance of online sales with the Netherlands in first place.
  • The third criterion is the size of the B premium segment, with Spain, France and Belgium in the top five.

All these countries are historically linked to the charm of the Italian spirit and the Lancia brand, which has always been very popular, thanks in part to the many iconic models that have captivated actors, fashion lovers, Italian elegance and motorsport enthusiasts.

And finally, Germany, with strong links to the world of rallying, where Lancia has dominated for many years thanks to the German drivers who have contributed to the brand's unrivalled performance, with iconic cars such as the Delta, 037 and Stratos. First and foremost, the legendary Walter Röhrl, who linked his career to the Italian brand and, in particular, when he drove the iconic rear-wheel drive Lancia Rally 037 to win the 1983 World Rally Championship, outperforming rivals equipped with four-wheel drive. Germany also boasts one of Europe's historic Lancia Clubs, with 40 years of existence and 250 members to its credit, and will welcome the first car of the new Lancia era with 25 dealers and 100 after-sales service points.

A decisive role in the international expansion of the Italian brand is played by the new distribution model, efficient and innovative, with the 50% of online sales and a selected number of dealers with a clear mission: quality without compromise. The new showrooms are in fact designed for a European clientele, the so-called progressive classic influencers, who seek timeless elegance, Italian style and innovation, together with a comfortable and pleasant experience on board.
