SsangYong presents at the Paris Motor Show the LIV-2 prototype and the upgraded versions (MY 2017) of the Tivoli & XLV, which will be equipped with modern safety systems such as Autonomous Braking System. The Tivoli Rally Raid 4WD racer is also there.
At this year's Paris Motor Show, SsangYong Motor Company, (CEO, Johng-sik Choi;www.smotor.com/en) presents its all-new model, the LIV-2 concept, which depicts a large premium SUV.
"With the Tivoli & XLV, SsangYong has demonstrated its ability to design and build an all-new white paper model in record time, while making the most of its long-standing expertise as Korea's leading SUV manufacturer. With over 100,000 units sold worldwide already, these models are already helping SsangYong's transformation in the best way possible."
"And now we are attempting to do the same, this time with a brand new large SUV that will be officially launched next year. The LIV-2 on display here today is a final prototype of our model with the internal code Y400 (Rexton), which is already in an advanced stage of testing," Mr Choi said.
"The LIV-2 brings a luxury perspective to the very popular SUV theme, while making use of advanced safety technologies"
"We are confident that this is another important model that is capable of taking SsangYong to the next level. From now on, we will be adding a model to our lineup over the next two years, with each one designed to expand our image in even more customer environments and international markets," added Mr. Choi.
The SsangYong LIV-2 is the evolution of the original LIV-1, which was unveiled at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show. Its name is derived from the words Limitless Interface Vehicle, which loosely translated means a vehicle with unlimited capabilities, as derived from its new technologies. Its motif embraces the Korean brand's new design philosophy entitled "Dignified Motion".
The SsangYong LIV-2 is equipped with a 2.2-litre Euro 6 diesel engine (181PS, 420Nm), which ensures power and economy, as well as the recently introduced 2.0 DGi petrol engine (225PS, 350Nm) with turbo and direct fuel injection.
The interior is designed to create the feeling of a modern luxury living room in the environment of a limousine, with plenty of space to work and relax, and equipped with many modern communication technologies. These include a three-screen unified communication system, mirroring of electronic devices via wi-fi, and connectivity technologies via the Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto applications. Overall, the infotainment system can be adjusted from a touch panel and offers high-quality surround sound.
At the same time, the car is equipped with advanced safety systems, such as the Autonomous Braking System (AEBS), which alerts the driver when an obstacle (car or pedestrian) is detected ahead, using radar and laser and a camera mounted on the top of the windscreen, and then brakes the car if necessary. It is also equipped with the Traffic Safety Assistance (TSA) and Headlight Beam Automatic Deactivation (HBA) systems, the Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system, the Blind Spot Detection System, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and the Traffic Alert System, which helps the driver to avoid hitting the rear of the vehicle when reversing out of reverse.
More Tivoli & XLV upgrades for 2017
Both the SsangYong Tivoli and XLV retain their stylish design, top-notch safety and spaciousness, and for 2017 they are further upgraded in key areas.
Thus, the models will receive additional safety equipment, such as the Autonomous Braking System (AEBS), which will be available as standard on most trim levels, while Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Headlight Beam Automatic Activation (HBA) and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) will be available as optional equipment.
At the same time, the equipment includes a steering column adjustment for distance, an upgraded front seat ventilation system and reclining rear seats for more comfort when travelling. Also added is a double floor in the luggage compartment that upgrades usability and versatility. Especially for the XLV, the upgrade includes heated rear seats for even greater passenger comfort during the winter season.
