This year's UEFA Champions League Final, apart from being a Spanish "affair", has a special "dimension". In particular, Nissan is innovating once again, creating the world's first live 360° video on YouTube, which will cover such an important sporting event and will broadcast in real time the excitement of the fans on the streets of Madrid !
The first video of its kind will be broadcast via Nissan's YouTube channel and will be available to around 180 million viewers of the UEFA Champions League Final, before and during the match in Milan next Saturday.
Codenamed FINAL 360°, the video will cover in real time the excitement and thrilling experiences of the fans of the two rival finalists, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
The 360° video transmission via YouTube is a new and one of the most innovative forms of audiovisual production, as this technique was only introduced last April. 360° videos are created using an omni-directional camera (with a special wide-angle shooting lens), where different directions are recorded simultaneously. The viewer is in control of the viewing direction, creating a form of virtual reality. When viewing from a second screen, the viewer simply moves their phone or tablet to select the desired direction in which they want to view. It's worth noting that during this year's UEFA Champions League Final, Nissan estimates that 50% of all viewers will watch the game with a second device or screen in their hands.
In order to carry out this project, journalists will take to the streets of Madrid to record the reactions of the fans of the two rival teams during the Final. The videos will then be live streamed to create the immersive 360° experience.
