In anticipation of the Acropolis Rally, Syntagma Square changes its face! Now, new Led traffic lights have been installed. The replacement of the lanterns in the central square of Athens was completed by the Region of Attica as part of the strategic plan implemented by the Region for the protection of road safety, the modernization of the road network and energy saving.
The administration of the Region placed particular emphasis on the improvement and redevelopment of the roadway around the Syntagma, which was recently completed, given that the most emblematic square of Attica had not been maintained for about 20 years.
In this context, after the overall reconstruction of the road surface, the total replacement of the traffic lights and signs followed.
It should be noted that next week will complete the replacement of the signs of the central signage bridge on Amalias Avenue and the striping of the roads around Syntagma Square (Amalias Avenue, King George Avenue, Othonos, and the section of the roadway between Stadiou and Philellinon Streets).
The Governor of Attica G. G. Patoulis points out:
"With daily actions and not words we improve and modernize the road network of Attica, our responsibility and at the same time we embellish the image of the most emblematic square of the country, according to European standards.
We will continue with other similar actions and interventions throughout Attica, continuing to invest in road safety, which remains at the top of our priorities."
