Today, McLaren unveiled the new 765LT Spider, the newest member of the Super Series, a year after the debut of its Coupe version. Of course, McLaren could only break a couple of records with its new supercar, as usual. So let's see what the 765LT Spider looks like and how it differs from the 765LT Coupe and the 720S Spider. The changes to the "regular" 720S Spider have been made to the chassis, mechanical parts, aerodynamics and suspension. The 765LT Spider, is the company's first Spider model to be fitted with the new "Monocage II-S" carbon tub which offers even greater torsional stiffness than the previous generation, further reducing this loss compared to the closed version.

Mechanically, the 765LT Spider carries the same mechanical parts as the closed version. Its twin-turbo V8 engine, with a capacity of 4 litres, produces 765 hp and 800 Nm of torque. The 0-100 sprint takes just 2.7 seconds, 0-200 takes 7.2 seconds and its top speed reaches 330 km/h. Due to the shorter gearbox staging, the 765LT Spider accelerates 25% faster in the same gear (without downshifting), compared to the 720S Spider.

Weighing 1388kg, it is 80kg lighter than the 'regular' 720S Spider and only 49kg heavier than the 765LT Coupe, with a record-breaking convertible ratio of 598bhp/tonne.

With changes continuing to the suspension and aerodynamics, McLaren has achieved an increase in vertical aerodynamic load of 25%, while its new suspension system, "Proactive Chassis Control II", ensures a balanced combination of stability and comfort, both on the road and on track.

The interior is the classic minimalist design of the 720 family, where everything is focused on the driver and there is nothing less and nothing more than the essentials. In the 765LT Spider, the P1's bucket seats (as they've come to be known, as they were the first model in which they were fitted) and the Senna's bucket seats (as they've come to be known, as they were the first model in which they were fitted) dominate the 765LT Spider.

The 765LT Spider, is limited to just 765 cars, with several of them already sold (specifically this year's entire production run) and priced from £310,000, or around €325,000 for most European markets.
