The futuristic interior of the new Audi Q4 e-tron

  Η Audi started the gradual
unveiling of a brand new electric model in its range, the
Q4 etron, releasing photos and details
domestic. Already from the first images, one realizes that the brand
from Ingolstadt has equipped the new electric
compact SUV with handling technologies and elements from the future, while
at the same time the driver and passengers feel comfortable and familiar, enjoying
spaces and comfort than larger classes.

  Top perhaps
feature of the interior equipment of the new model, the innovative
headup augmented reality display, which combines the
real world with the virtual world, with navigation instructions extending to the
the driver's visual depth of field. If you add to this the innovative
concept a steering wheel with touch function with which it is equipped
the new
Q4 etron, it is easy to see that the new model
is a foretaste of an exciting electric future.

  The architecture
the modular platform for electromobility (
MEB) on which the Q4 etron, guarantees great spaciousness and numbers the
confirm: with a length of 4.590 mm, a width of 1.865 mm and a height of 1.613 mm
mm, the
Q4 etron is one of the largest compact SUVbut the interiors, however, place it in a larger
Category. With a front overhang of just 86 centimetres, the 2.76-metre wheelbase
ensures an internal length of 1.83 metres, equivalent to a large
SUV. The wide-opening doors, the second row of seating and the
placed almost seven centimetres higher than the front one and the absence of
central tunnel, ensure that the
Q4 etron sets the benchmark in the category. At the same time, the
new model as genuine
SUV has rich
internal storage spaces, with a volume of up to 24.8 litres. For the first time
one litre bottles can be stored in slots placed high up
on the doors, increasing comfort and ergonomics.

The new Q4 etron is based on the well-known digital concept operation and handling of the Audi, in four
levels: the digital instrument cluster or the
Audi virtual cockpit for the driver, the
central touch screen
MMI, him
natural language phonetic control and the optional
headup Screen. The last one,
displays important information on two levels, one realistic and one
augmented reality, in a unique 3D experience. The instructions
navigation are presented at a physical distance of approximately ten metres from the windscreen,
on a diagonal of about 70 inches, with floating arrows that dynamically highlight
the next action point on the route. Closer to the driver, the
speed, number plates, assistance systems.

  The system
is based on a particularly bright screen
LCD which through special mirrors directs the produced
light rays in two planes and through reflections, clearly visible to the eyes
of the driver. The various symbols are displayed at a rate of 60 frames per second,
specially adapted to the geometry of the projection optics, with processing
data obtained from the front camera, the radar sensor and the
system  navigation, to ensure
incredibly realistic depiction. Features, the system software
consists of about 600,000 lines of programming code, about 50%
more than the entire control system of the first version of the
Space Shuttle!

  Although hitech and leading in
ergonomics, the standard 10.25-inch digital dashboard or the standard 10.25-inch
Audi virtual cockpit, in conjunction with the system infotainment with voice control or free text input,
are basically familiar technologies. What is really
revolutionary in the new model is its steering wheel. Designed with two double
rays, only the four rings in its central part remind us of something
familiar to the driver. The upper spokes have touch surfaces in appearance
piano black with illuminated functional areas indicating the
corresponding active buttons. Lightweight protrusions make them easier to handle and
use and the buttons provide gentle haptic feedback when pressed. As with the
smartphones, there are not only touch movements but also movements
scanning, for example for browsing lists. The optionally heated
the rim is flattened both at the bottom and at the top - a
choice that makes the interior atmosphere look like a foretaste of a
future era. Both in terms of appearance and function or feel,
the new steering wheel clearly expresses its futuristic character
Q4 etron.

The new Audi Q4 etron will be gradually revealed to the media and the public in the coming years
months, with the first cars appearing on the roads in autumn.
