Koenigsegg One:1 scrapped due to ABS problem

A problem with the left front wheel ABS caliper caused the Koenigsegg One:1 to lock up and retire at the Nurburgring on Monday, while trying to break the "Green Hell" record.

The Swedish manufacturer says the caliper malfunctioned just before the driver "slammed" on the brakes. And, even though the relevant light on the dial had come on, the driver, who was wearing a helmet, did not see it and did not notice the change in braking as he was in... the hunt for time.

Already, Koenigsegg, although calling the failure "unfortunate" and "extremely rare", will proceed to change the software, especially regarding the driver's early warning system.

Meanwhile, the repair of one of the seven existing One:1's, which had the exit from the track, is slowly resuming. The repair is expected to take more than six months, at which point it will return to the "Green Hell", chasing the Porsche 918 Spyder record in the main and, why not, the all-time Ring lap record.
