The new Ford Tourneo Connect multi-purpose vehicle became the latest model to receive the highest 5-star rating from the independent Euro NCAP. The maximum safety rating is announced as production begins on the Tourneo Connect, which offers a customisable and spacious cabin with seating for up to seven passengers and a choice of two body length versions, along with a range of trim levels including Active, Titanium and Sport. First deliveries to customers are due to start in the spring.

 

The all-new Ford Tourneo Connect earned ratings of 84% and 82% in adult and child protection respectively, including the model's top performance in side barrier crash tests. The independent safety body also praised the Tourneo Connect's driver assistance features, which include Driver Alert and Lane-Keeping System and Pre-Collision Assist autonomous braking system. "Family car buyers immediately appreciate safety, and we believe no customer should think twice about whether Ford is looking after them," said Stuart Southgate, director, Safety Engineering, Ford of Europe. "The advanced safety and driver assistance features in the all-new Tourneo Connect are designed to help prevent or mitigate the effects of accidents and protect passengers in the event of a collision, so families can enjoy peace of mind on their journeys."

 

Designed to support an active lifestyle, small businesses and customers who use it for both of these reasons, the all-new Tourneo Connect offers a second and third row of seats that can be folded or removed - and a passenger seat that folds down to create a flat surface - to create a spacious cargo area up to 3 metres long for the safe transport of leisure or work-related equipment. Among the new and advanced technologies in the all-new Tourneo Connect digital cockpit is the availability of a 10-inch centre screen for easy viewing and access to navigation, audio, cabin climate control and connectivity controls, as well as a 10.25-inch digital display that takes the place of the traditional instrument panel.

 

For the first time, Tourneo Connect customers can choose an automatic gearbox on both petrol and diesel versions of the model, as well as a four-wheel drive system in combination with the 2.0L EcoBlue diesel engine. fully electric Mustang Mach-E, as well as the Explorer Plug-In Hybrid, Kuga, Puma, Focus, Fiesta and Mondeo, also achieving the highest 5-star rating in the independent Euro NCAP safety tests.
