Weekly coexistence with the new hybrid Honda Civic e:HEV shatters stereotypes that hybrid cars are not exciting!

Meet

The recommendations for the Honda Civic since it has been in production since 1972 and is now in its 11th generation. Having sold a total of 27 million units by the end of 2021, it is the world's best-selling car and a perennial Best Seller in the US and Canada! The 11th generation model started its commercial journey from June 2021, changing its styling but remaining just as dynamic, adopting a greener philosophy thanks to its fully hybrid e:HEV technology and most importantly changing its category, now representing Honda in the D category, instead of the C category where Civic cars have been chronologically located!

External design

Designed in white paper, larger in size and with a distinctive silhouette, it cuts through all references to the past, adopting Honda's new design philosophy.

The first thing one notices in the new Honda Civic e:HEV is the front part and especially the horizontal and long bonnet. The newly designed grille, is integrated into the sporty bumper flanked by the new slim rectangular Full Led headlights, creating a wave-like image and giving an aggressive look!

The profile is characterised by the liftback bodywork, reminiscent of a four-door coupe, reinforcing the sporty orientation of the model! The simple and clean lines give the impression of movement, even when the car is stopped, while the long wheelbase (2734 mm) makes the car look even longer!

The rear has the most design interest. The fifth door slopes down to the bumper, forming a discreet and beautiful spoiler below the window. The large rear lights, hugging the body and joined by a thin strip!

Overall, the adoption of Liftback bodywork gives the new Honda Civic the feel of a four-door Coupe, enhancing the car's sporty character!

Internal

Honda has taken special care of the Civic's cabin, which is distinguished by simple and clean lines, forming a minimalist and High Tech environment with retro elements!

Its main feature is the horizontal grid across the width of the dashboard, which gives it a unique style. The centre is dominated by the 9-inch touchscreen of the multimedia system, compatible with Android Auto and Apple AirPlay.

Behind the steering wheel is the digital instrument panel, integrated into a high-definition digital display 10.2 inch, which displays a lot of information!

The seats provide premium passenger body support, with multiple adjustment positions with ergonomics focused on the needs of the driver!

Honda has chosen top quality soft materials in the majority of them, with the assembly rivaling the Premium market models!

Luggage space is in the mid-range of the class with 410 litres, up to 1220 with the seats fully folded, and we liked the clever folding shelf that reveals itself when the fifth door is opened!

Driving set

Under the bonnet is a new 2.0-litre direct-injection atmospheric engine called i-MMD, which operates on the i-MMD cycle. Atkinson, and is combined with two electric motors.

The first, basic one takes care of the car's movement while the second one plays the role of the generator. The electric motors are powered by a new generation lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1.05 kWh which is located under the rear seat. The overall performance of the system reaches a power output of 184 hp and 315 Nm of torque!

On the road

Honda's legacy of dynamic and enjoyable Civic driving bodes well for an exciting experience, especially when you add to that the economy offered by e:HEV hybrid technology. Let's take a closer look!

The city does not match the character and size of the Honda Civic. However, thanks to the e:HEV hybrid technology and especially with the "ECO" driving profile option, it achieves almost zero consumption in the urban environment, as the petrol engine acts mainly as a generator, charging the battery through energy recovery by powering the two electric motors, which take care of the car's movement! At the same time, in passing by the new Honda Civic, they turn the heads of passers-by, pinning it with their gaze!

In the mountain and rural network the Honda Civic e:HEV finds itself! The robust chassis and properly tuned suspension ensure that driving on winding mountain roads is a pleasure! The direct and precise steering also contributes to this. Especially with the Sport driving option! Body roll is minimal, with the car "gripping" the road very well, giving the driver total control, challenging for a playful and safe drive!

On the motorway once again the robust chassis is highlighted, while sound insulation levels are at a top level, even at very high speeds! The car is synonymous with stability, showcasing its traveling character!

General the new Honda Civic has 3+1 driving profiles, Eco, Normal and Sport as well as the Individual, which is shaped by the driver. The electronically controlled constant-ratio transmission, called eCVT (Constant Velocity Transmission), has a built-in clutch that engages the petrol engine directly to the wheels in a constant ratio.

At the same time, the new Power Control Unit (PCU) enables faster charging and discharging of the battery, contributing to a 12% increase in power efficiency compared to previous e:HEV technology applications. In practice it achieves very low consumption, which during the test did not exceed 5.2 litres per 100 km, an impressive figure considering the engine's performance and the sporty nature of the model!

Who it is aimed at

The new Honda Civic e:HEV is aimed at thrill-seekers who want a car that gets the adrenaline pumping. To young family drivers who haven't given up the dynamism of their youth. All this while providing the lowest possible fuel consumption!

Price

The new Honda Civic can be found in the catalogues from 41.500 euros, reaching the corresponding Premium offers of the middle class!
