After the positive impressions that we gained from the all-electric Jeep Avenger e, it's time for the weekly symbiosis with the thermal engine that "wears" the 1.2 litre petrol engine with a power output of 100 hp.

"Popular" demand

The Avenger is the entry-level model in the entire Jeep range. The company's original planning was to introduce the all-electric and mild hybrid, bypassing the pure thermal, which was originally planned only for the Italian and Spanish markets.

However, the interest shown by consumers, not only in our country, but also in the rest of Europe, forced Jeep to revise its original strategy and now the Avenger with the 1.2 liter petrol engine is available throughout the continent, being the spearhead of the spearhead!

At the same time, the car returns to its roots, reviving the philosophy of the timeless Willy's in the modern era!

Smart functional design

The car is beautiful and compact, unlike any other car on the market, with an innovative, intelligent and functional design, as designer Daniele Colonaci has "armoured" the bodywork so that it does not suffer significant damage from minor bumps, which are common in the city.

The front end features the timeless seven vertical grilles, a trademark of Jeep, communicating its "noble" origins, and is flanked by the new two-tiered rectangular "Jeep Performance Led" lights, which are integrated into the grille. This is a technique that protects them from damage and impact. The Off Road bumper, "wilds" its appearance, showing its adventurous orientation.

The profile of the car is also impressive. Muscular surfaces are combined with pronounced body-length ribs, accentuating the fenders and giving it a lively look.

The "hidden" handles on the rear doors create the feeling of a three-door body, giving it the required sporty element.

As a genuine Jeep it stands out for its long ground clearance, which, combined with the large wheels, recalls the natural evolution of the iconic Willys line through the years. It thus creates with temporal continuity from past to present and with an eye to the future.

The rear end gives it a strong dynamism and a youthful image, which is reflected in the different Jeep philosophy, as it is more like a sport hatchback than a B-SUV. The image is completed by the slight slope of the rear window, the square headlamps with X-shaped LED graphics and the Off Road bumper!

Overall the Lifestyle character is strong, with the car having clear design references to Willys, but also the so-called "Easter Eggs", the hidden design surprises on the exterior and interior of the body!

Focus on ergonomics

Significant changes have been made to the interior compared to the all-electric Avenger. The manual transmission and handsome sporty gear lever forced designers to redesign the dashboard base, removing the clever magnetic case.

The design is simple, modern and functional. The dashboard features clean lines and flat surfaces, increasing levels of practicality. While the large compartment at the bottom is very useful.

The centrepiece is the 10.25-inch U-Connect multimedia system, compatible with Android Auto and Apple AirPlay, which provides all the necessary information for the driver.

Behind the beautiful steering wheel, the multifunctional digital instrument panel on a TFT screen stands out.

Ergonomically, it's very well thought out, making life easy for the driver, with the switches ideally placed to keep the driver's attention on the road.

The seats provide excellent lumbar support and are comfortable at the same time. The high driving position offers excellent peripheral visibility, combined with large and flat glass surfaces.

The luggage volume has increased significantly compared to the electric model, due to the absence of the battery and now reaches 380 liters from 355 respectively, while with the rear seats folded it reaches 1,275 liters!

Basic solution

Jeep has chosen for the basis of the powertrains the three-cylinder turbocharged Stellantis petrol engine of the GSE family with 100 hp and 205 Nm of torque, which is combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox!

Tool for everyday life

Having already formed an opinion after testing the electric Avenger, the question arises whether the same advantages remain in the thermal version of the model! So let's answer this question by examining the car's behaviour in every condition and network.

In the city moves with absolute agility, is cheeky and nervous. It fits everywhere and thanks to its small turning circle of just 10.5 m. Visibility is exemplary, thanks to the large glass surfaces. Pleasant and fun, a commuting companion within the urban cycle!

In the mountain and rural network reveals his second nature. The car is well-balanced and fun, reminiscent of a dynamic hatchback in feel rather than an SUV, especially in the Sport driving profile. On the road it handles very well. The low-powered gasoline engine performs quite well, though it needs more horsepower to show off the car's talents. The suspension feels balanced, offering a combination of comfort and safety.

On the motorway the sound insulation and rolling quality levels are at the highest level even at high speeds for the class, thanks to the robust chassis and good assembly of the car, offering a really comfortable journey even when loaded!

General Jeep has taken special care of the car to give it the feeling of a small and dynamic model, suitable for any condition, anywhere and everywhere. The average combined fuel consumption reached 7.5 litres per 100 km.

It also has 6 drivers. Sport - normal and eco for on-road and normal conditions. With the Sport profile, the entire feel of the car changes, reminiscent of a Hot Hatchback, as the engine mapping changes, and the steering and suspension become stiffer. Normal is ideal for everyday use, combining the required power with economy, while with eco it delivers less, focusing on economy.

The three special programs are for sand, mud and snow. Through the differential lock, the engine gives, depending on the program and conditions, more torque to the wheel that loses traction. At the same time, it has 20° approach, 35° departure and 20° ramp angles, which allow it to move more vigorously off-road, even over low obstacles. Of course they don't replace all-wheel drive, but they do give the Avenger the off-road capabilities required to justify its "Jeep" designation.

It does everything

The Jeep Avenger is geared to meet needs, from the urban cycle, to gentle off-road driving, and even leisurely cruising. Focused on the needs of the driver. The car does everything, fits everywhere and is a pleasure to drive as an ally and companion in everyday life. Because of this versatility and multifunctionality, it appeals to the entire consumer audience. It addresses everyone with complete confidence, knowing that it meets every need!

Price challenge

Jeep offers the Avenger with the petrol engine of the 1.2 litre from 23.990€ in the LONGITUDE equipment version, while the rich ALTITUDE from 25.990€. Prices are very competitive in relation to the character of the car and what it offers in this value!
