The next Nissan Z will be lighter, smaller and two-litre

This is a rendering of Topspeed.com for the next Z. It has "borrowed" elements from the Sentra and Murano.

With the Toyobaru, the BMW ticks and the Fiata to do... party, η Nissan he'll have to prepare something very special to fire against them. And, since the 2018 is the year that the successor to the 370Z, the news for petrolheads is... irritants.

In the beginning, there was the... movement. At Nissan, they have decided the new model (which they simply call "the Z") to keep the rear-wheel drive setup, with one essential difference: To become (even more) fun to drive than their predecessors, since the 350 and 370Ζ are famous for their games of tailgating their. And, to make it even more serious, Nissan, as TopSpeed.gr has previously revealed, is gearing up to revive, in part, the "recipe" of the legendary Datsun 240Z.

And what might that mean? Nissan's vice president and CCO, Shiro Nakamoa, says that the idea of Ζ "needed to reconsider". And he explained that the upcoming model should be smaller and lighter, probably "looking back" at the roots of the original, of Datsun 240Z.

The IDX Concepts are very close to the philosophy that Nissan's bosses describe for the successor to the 370Z. So when they do something like this, the pleasure is indescribable...

While information is scarce, Nissan's vice president and global marketing chief, Roel de Vries, says that the successor to the 370Z could have a range of engines, which will dependent and from each market (1.400 biturbo for Greece, please). And, almost simultaneously, it was leaked that the original version of Z will only be launched convertible and that he'll probably be wearing a four-cylinder two-litre, turbo, hybrid engine, with unknown horsepower. In the future, Nissan will - probably again - launch a version of the Z with the classic V6.

Smaller, lighter, more fun to drive with a two-litre turbo hybrid, well. What else could that mean? Since one of the biggest complaints about the 370Ζ is that it seems very expensive, in the US market, against a Mustang GT, for example, Nissan, does not want the Z-series to have the fate of the -awful and terrible- 300ZX that "He died" before a replacement was prepared because of its price. Which means he'll be both cheapest.
The interior of the IDX Concept. You want it like hell, don't you?

One last thing. Nakamora, he talks about a "revolution" with the Z. And he explains that "the GT-R is more evolution, while the Z needs to be more revolution than evolution".

So while Nissan is preparing the next toy for big kids, the team of TopSpeed.com made a rendering of the next Z, using data from Nissan Sentra and Murano. And, to complete our own, we remind you of two concepts, which are very close to the philosophy described by the Japanese...
