Η Alfa Romeo is starring in the Historic "1000 Miglia" in 2024, spearheaded by an extremely rare 1954 Alfa Romeo Sport Spider 1900, which takes part in the race with DTM legend Nicola Larini as driver. More than 50 classic Alfa Romeos are taking part, including a 1956 1900 Super Sprint; these models are joined by a Giulia and a Stelvio Quadrifoglio from the Super Sport collector series, while the all-new Junior is also making its presence felt.
From 11 to 15 June 2024, the 42nd "1000 Miglia" will take place in Italy and the now classic Brescia-Rome-Brescia route, with over 400 classic cars taking part. More than 50 Alfa Romeos are taking part in what Enzo Ferrari called "The most beautiful race in the world". The most special involves an extremely rare 1900 Sport Spider from 1954, which bears the number "289". It was an open-top racer with a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine delivering 138 HP, a 5-speed gearbox and a De Dion rear axle. Thanks to its weight of only 880 kg and excellent aerodynamics, it could reach speeds of up to 220 km/h and its dynamic characteristics were top notch. Behind the wheel was Nicola Larini, the legendary pilot who in the 1990s dominated the DTM and was crowned champion in 1993 with the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI.
Another very rare presence is a 1900 Super Sprint of 1956 that enters the race with the number "329", powered by a 2 litre twin cam engine with 115 HP at 5,500 rpm. The driver is journalist Andrea Farina, while the Italian marque's masterpieces are accompanied by a Giulia and a Stelvio Quadrifoglio Super Sport. This particular series is a collector's item and was built as a tribute to the brand's first 1000 Miglia victory, which was won by a 6C 1500 Super Sport in 1928.
The all-new Alfa Romeo Junior in the event
In addition, at the 42nd 1000 Miglia, spectators will have the opportunity to see the all-new Alfa Romeo Junior, the model that is reviving driving interest in one of the most popular categories on the market, for the first time. With its unique styling and pure Alfa Romeo identity, the B-SUV measuring just over 4 m in length marks the brand's return to a highly commercial category, attracting new customers and creating a new generation of Alfisti.
