GM prepared a car without a steering wheel!

The Future, eventually, it comes very quickly. In support of this, the technology of autonomous driving galloping with rhythms that are rather frightening, not only the average driver, but even the staff of the car manufacturers.

In a surprise move, the general engines puts himself in the header of the efforts to establish the autonomous cars: These days, he tries to get a licence in the United States for its autonomous model, which is not like all the others. It's the first car on the planet that no steering wheel, no pedal and any other controls for the driver. The only "control" that exists is a emergency button, which passengers will press if they want to stop the vehicle.

"When you see this picture for the first time, it's kind of shocking", said the president of the GM, Dan Ammann, who explained that "that is why we believe that this is an important moment on the journey until full implementation of autonomous vehicles. Sure, some people will be curious at first, but they will certainly agree that it is a major technological development and they will embrace her".

Testing on GM's autonomous vehicles has already begun, unofficially

Technically, the first car without steering wheel and pedals, is the Google Self-Driving Car Project, under the name Waymo. But the difference is that it was tested "unofficially". Here, General Motors has filed request at US federal government to be given permission to test in actual traffic conditions cars without steering wheel, pedals and other driving controls.

If Washington approves the request, GM plans to test 2,500 modified autonomous Chevrolet Bolts at public roads, in at least seven American states.

The company explains that in this way, saves weight in its models, and if the technology proves to be fully functional, it will add another seat forward, thus converting the Bolts into hexes.

Various other companies, such as BMW, Mercedes Benz etc. which are researching autonomous driving, have presented futuristic concept cars, in which the steering wheel, the pedals and the dial are folding when the driver selects "autopilot". But here we are talking about something completely different. This model, simply is not capable of conventional driving. Under the command of the demonic - as it turns out - Mary Barra, GM seemed shrinking. She lost her scepter of the largest automobile manufacturer the world and isolated itself from a number of markets, the latest being the Europe, where it closed its activities selling Opel/Vauxhall in the French group PSA. In fact, of course, Barra, was not driving the GM in a frightening retreat to the introversion, as the whole world assumed. The American woman was simply attempting to reduce the group's costs and to release resources, for the development and implementation new technologies, such as the one it intends to present to Detroit auto show. There, where it is expected to debut the first -wide production- car of the world without a steering wheel. And without pedals. The question, of course, is whether people are ready to accept it. You, would you "trust" a car to take you to your destination, without being able to intervene in it?
