Ford Performance unveiled the Mustang GT4 race car at the 2016 SEMA show and an application for fast laps around the track!

A new version of the Ford Mustang was unveiled at the SEMA 2016 show that is currently taking place in Las Vegas.

It's the Ford Mustang GT4 race car that, as promised by the Ford Performance team, is ready to rock the crowds and is suitable for world and GT4 championships.

Ford's new racing proposition is based on the Ford Shelby GT350R-C and is intended for IMSA (Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge - GS), Pirelli World Challenge (GTS/G4) and the European GT4 Championship

Features racing technology elements, from the drivetrain to the suspension

The Mustang GT4, unveiled at the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas, was designed and developed in partnership with Ford Performance and Multimatic Motorsports to compete in world championships such as the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, Pirelli World Challenge GTS/GT4, and the European GT4 Championship. It is inspired by the Ford Shelby GT350R-C that won the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge championship just last month.

"As Mustang continues to expand its presence in global markets, we are pursuing a similar strategy in motorsports," explained David Pericak, global director of Ford Performance. "The Mustang GT4 is equipped to race and win on tracks around the world, and we anticipate it will become as popular in motorsports as the production model is among consumers."

The Mustang GT4 is powered by the next-generation 5.2L V8 atmospheric racing engine, adapted for GT4 racing. The racing engine was developed, tested and built by Ford Performance in partnership with Roush Yates Engines.

A lightweight, compact six-speed Holinger transmission with shift levers on the steering wheel offers race reliability with a pneumatic system for quick, quick gear changes. The GT4 engine also features a dry-cartridge oil system, a racing dual clutch and ZF volts.

The Mustang GT4's chassis characteristics can be summarised as follows:

Multimatic Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV™) dampers for advanced predictability, precision, stability and total vehicle control

Rear base arms with cylindrical springs and Multimatic front and rear torsion bars

Forgeline 18" x 11" forged wheels

Brembo discs and six-piston calipers

The Mustang GT4's aerodynamic enhancements include a rear spoiler designed based on experience from the Ford GT racing program, a front splitter, ventilated hood, front bumper spoiler and rear diffuser.

Inside, the Mustang GT4 features an FIA-spec roll cage and a MoTeC racing-style data logging system.

FORD PERFORMANCE APP

The new Ford Performance app for smartphones will be able to record data from a lap around the track with advanced analysis and various statistics. It will feature virtual on-screen gauges and will provide the ability to upload to social networks while also recording on video from the smartphone's camera. So you will be able to analyze your lap and further improve your times, as if you have a team around you!

It will leverage Ford's latest Sync® 3 capability and allow users to record and share their achievements. The app will be available for the most popular smartphones, on Ios and Android.

The new app starts in 2017 for the new Ford GT and will be adopted on other Ford models.
