Ford Focus RS Option Pack Edition : The perfect improved!

The new Ford Focus RS Option Pack Edition enhances the driving experience with the addition of a limited-slip mechanical differential on the front axle of the Ford Focus RS that allows the 350bhp of the exceptional 2.3L EcoBoost engine to be fully utilised in track conditions.

Quaife's mechanical limited slip differential (LSD) promises to give us even more smiles and makes us look forward to ...loving it on the tracks!

The new version of the Ford Focus RS offers unique styling, a matte black roof and mirror covers, a striking Nitrous Blue exterior, and two-tone Recaro bucket seats

The Focus RS Option Pack Edition is the latest offering from Ford Performance, which unveiled its latest range at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Reaffirming its commitment to Ford Performance in Europe, Ford has created the position of Ford Performance Director, which has been filled by Leo Roeks.

"Our new Focus RS Option Pack Edition represents affordable performance at its best," said Roeks. "Improving the Focus RS's top-of-the-line dynamic performance was no easy task - but Ford Performance engineers have created a transmission capable of harnessing every last drop of power from the 350-horsepower EcoBoost engine."

Passion for performance

Developed by Ford Performance engineers and tested around the world, the Focus RS Option Pack Edition further enhances the premium handling and responsiveness of this high-performance hatchback by using a Quaife mechanical limited-slip differential (LSD) for the front axle.

Mechanical LSD limits the engine torque transferred to a wheel with reduced traction and distributes it to the wheel with the highest traction to counteract slippage that can affect acceleration and stability.

By controlling the torque distribution to each wheel, the Focus RS Option Pack Edition's Quaife LSD allows drivers to take full advantage of the 350bhp 2.3L EcoBoost engine and works perfectly with all standard Focus RS systems, including:

Ford Performance All Wheel Drive that varies front-rear torque distribution according to driving conditions - monitoring data from vehicle sensors 100 times/second and sending up to 70% of torque to the rear axle

Dynamic Torque Vectoring which uses electrically controlled clutches on the rear axle to transfer up to 100% of available torque to each rear wheel and can change the distribution within 0.06 seconds

Torque Vectoring Control (TVC) that automatically applies low braking pressure to reduce wheel slip on the front axle

"For the hardcore sports driving enthusiast, the Quaife LSD mechanical differential add-on will further increase speed in the corners of a track, maximising acceleration on exit. The new set-up also provides better stability and control under hard braking and will help drivers prepare the car for power oversteer through Drift Mode," commented Roeks. "The Focus RS Option Pack Edition advances the philosophy we have at Ford of driving enjoyment to new levels for an everyday road car."

The Focus RS Option Pack offers selectable Drive Modes that include the industry-first Drift Mode for controlled power oversteer (drifting) in track conditions, Launch Control for ultimate performance when starting from a standstill and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.7 seconds.

Unique design

The bold and dynamic styling of the Focus RS Option Pack Edition dresses the Nitrous Blue exterior with unique details such as the roof and mirror covers in matte black. The rear roof spoiler is also painted in matte black, while blue RS logos adorn the side vertical wings.

Standards offered:

19-inch black matte forged aluminium wheels that offer increased resistance to road irregularities

Brembo four-piston calipers with typical blue RS colour and Brembo logo

Recaro bucket seats with exclusive leather trim in Nitrous Blue color
