230 cameras for those who run red lights are installed in Attica

The first such automatic cameras were installed on Poseidon Avenue, starting to operate on a pilot basis perhaps within the week. The installation of the systems on other main roads will follow in the near future. In total, 230 such wireless cameras will be installed in Attica.

Already, the trial operation of the first technical means of detecting a red traffic light violation was launched by the Region of Attica. The Governor of Attica, George Patoulis asked the pilot application to start from roads in which the following are found serious infringements traffic lights. Mr Patoulis points out that "It is our duty to protect the lives and the physical integrity of the citizens of Attica. The first cameras are already in operation and in the next few days they will be delivered to the Greek Police for use, after the necessary technical inspection by the Metropolitan Infrastructure Management Directorate of the Attica Region has been completed.

A prerequisite for the implementation of the Road Traffic Code is individual awareness, responsibility, comprehensive training and education of road users. Education in particular is the cornerstone of harmonious coexistence throughout the road network. And of course harmonious coexistence and safety includes all users of its road network."
