Salvini: "The ban on thermal engines from 2035 must be reviewed"

Italy's new infrastructure and transport minister presses EU Commission on ban on petrol and diesel engines

Mateo Salvini launches his arrows against the a ban on thermal engines introduced by European bodies for 2035, pressing Brussels to review the legislation. "We are banning the production of petrol and diesel cars from 2035, while introducing the transition to Euro 7 from 2025 without any economic, environmental or social sense", said the Transport Minister at the end of the meeting with his European counterparts.

"I spoke about it with the EU Commissioner (Adina Vălean is the head of the Mobility and Transport department) and with my counterparts from France and Germany," the Northern League leader added. "We also talked about reviewing the ways and timing of the implementation of some policies, I am thinking about pseudo-environmental fundamentalism that risks not only not serving the environment, but also leaving tens of thousands of workers on the street."
