Behold the new Peugeot 208!

With more Styles, for sure. Read more Sports, for sure. Read more sophisticated, for sure. With more engines and electrification option, also. Η Peugeot brings the new generation of the popular supermini of the 208, with the Changes, compared to the outgoing model, to be dramatic.
Less than a month after the presentation by Renault of the fifth generation of the clio and just before the Geneva Motor Show, the next powerful French brand reveals its own supermini, showing us that the conflict in the B segment is... just around the corner.
The new Peugeot model, with code name P21, will be available with engines petrol, oil, but also an option for EV. At launch, we will see it a 1.2 litre petrol engine, Performance 75 horsepower, by pedal manual box, a performance 99 horsepower, by six-speed manual and the faster version (until the launch of the GTi and excluding the EV 208) will be with 128 horsepower, by eighth automatic box.
As regards the diesel engines, at the launch we will see a 1,5 litre diesel performance 99 horsepower by six-speed manual box, while the big surprise is the fact that it will be available with electric motor, Performance 136 hp and 260 Nm of torque.
In terms of the electric car, which in some markets will be called GT or GT line, will stand out from some Details, such as the rims and a green colouring on the lion (the Peugeot brand), Peugeot has worn him a 50kwh battery. Η autonomy will be approximately 340 km and the Loading as the 80% it can be done in 30 minutes (eight hours with a 7.4 KW charger). The first reports indicate that the electric version of the 208 will be able to make the sprint from standstill to 100 h.a.o. in just 8.1 seconds.
The batteries will be placed in a special area under the luggage compartment (where the fuel tank is located in the 208 with an internal combustion engine) and the EV 208, like all other versions, will be front-wheel drive. Something else interesting is the information that Peugeot will provide Guarantee that the battery will retain the 70% of its capacity, after eight years, ή 160.000 kilometers!
The 208 P21, will be 4 cm longer and 30 kg lighter than the one it replaces. It is based on the new CMP architecture (Common Modular Platform), which we see in the last DS 3 Crossback, and will also be the basis for the next Opel Corsa.
The model will be exclusively five-door and, design-wise, it adopts several elements from its bigger "brother", the 508, while the head of the design team that created it, Yann Beurel, describes it as "more futuristic, dynamic and youthful" than its predecessor.
The design pattern that Peugeot has adopted in recent years with the "claws" of the lion in luminaires, we now see it and on the front lights of the 208, and interestingly, it will also be available with 17 inch wheels, as well as with black roof to contrast with the colour of the rest of the car. At bonnet, right above the lion, there is one more signal, which reads '208', in reference to the brand's previous models.

At inside, major changes have also been made, with the 2019 208 using - of course - the i-cockpit, making the class rivals look... ancient. Ο instrument panel is located High (so that the driver can see it from above the steering wheel rim), at same height with the touch screen placed in the centre.

And while it will be used Screen touch screen with a choice of 5, 7 and 10 inches, largely used the design pattern of the Peugeot 3008, with the switches have been minimised and "come down" a little lower, while glossy plastics are used in piano black and with (faux) carbon fibre details, giving the impression that you're in a hot hatch.
