Every day Ford is delivering on its commitment to a quiet, sustainable, even cleaner and electrified future in Europe and in our country, with a diverse range of models already available today that are powered by electricity for their daily commute on the roads. Whether in the form of plug-in hybrid vehicles, such as the versatile Kuga PHEV and the powerful Explorer PHEV, or as pure electric models, such as the top-of-the-line in every aspect of the new Mustang Mach-E, and the tireless E-Transit in Ford's Pro commercial vehicle segment.
In order to support all customers by making the use of its electric models seamless and convenient wherever they are, Ford has developed a rich range of technologies and products that come together to support the battery charging process of its PHEV and BEV vehicles. Both while on the road, through advanced regenerative braking systems, and when charging from an external power source at home, in the office or at public charging stations.
Charging on the move, everywhere and always
Regenerative braking and the collection in the battery of a significant amount of kinetic energy that is normally lost in the form of heat whenever the driver slows down or simply lifts his or her foot off the accelerator pedal, is the primary and "free" charging of every Ford electric model. In practice, the driver does not need to engage or take any further action to activate the regenerative braking function, as the advanced system in Ford PHEV and BEV vehicles uses the appropriate technology to collect and store this energy in the battery, which will then be used to provide power to the electric drivetrain.
The benefits of on-the-go charging via the regenerative braking system of Ford PHEV and BEV vehicles are not only limited to increasing efficiency - and therefore electric range - and optimising deceleration, but also extend to other areas, such as ease of driving in the city and a significant reduction in wear and tear on conventional friction brakes, as Ford PHEV and BEV models are able to slow down to a large extent using their electric motor that also works
Charging to a common household outlet
Plugging your plug-in hybrid or all-electric Ford into your home is certainly the simplest way to ensure your car is ready to serve you when you need it. Simply plug your vehicle into a standard household outlet and let it charge. This case, requires no additional equipment and, therefore, represents a cost-effective method of recharging your electric Ford.
Charging via Ford Connected Wallbox or mobile device
Putting into practice its long-standing commitment to provide top services and charging products that will support its electric models in the best way, Ford offers in our country the most advanced and efficient wallbox and portable unit charging systems that ensure every PHEV and BEV Ford vehicle owner absolute peace of mind, top safety and of course faster charging times compared to conventional sockets. At the same time, where required, it offers installation of the relevant equipment by qualified personnel. The solutions currently offered by Ford in this area are as follows:
Ford Connected Wallbox up to 7.36 kW / 32 Amp for single-phase power supply
This Ford Connected Wallbox wall charger is specifically designed for flexible compatibility with both Ford's pure electric models and the company's rechargeable plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Thanks to the charger's adjustable power levels, the battery of your electric Ford can be charged with an output power of up to 7.36 kW / 31 Amp and a minimum current of 6 A with an input voltage of 230 V. The user-friendly configuration of this charger includes a weather-resistant design for indoor or outdoor installation, a 7.5-meter-long cable, an ergonomically designed handle and a special stand that allows you to store the charging cable close to the car's charging socket.
Ford Connected Wallbox up to 11 kW for three-phase power supply
The second Ford Connected Wallbox wall charger option for three-phase power supply is specially designed for even more efficient charging for all PHEV and BEV Ford vehicles. The battery of your electric Ford can be charged with an output power of up to 11 kW, an adjustable current of 6 A - 16 A and an input voltage of 400 V. And in this case, the user-friendly advanced configuration of this wall charger includes a weather-resistant design for indoor or outdoor installation, a 7.5-meter-long cable, an ergonomically designed handle and a special stand that allows you to store the charging cable close to the car's charging socket. In addition, WiFi/WLAN connectivity allows you to remotely access all the functions of this Ford Connected Wallbox.
Up to 22 kW / 32 Amp - portable charging device for industrial outlet and adapter for domestic
The third option available, instead of a wall charger, is the NRGkick DiniTech battery charger, which is a standard kit for all types of Ford electric models. It's a portable, easy-to-use, high-performance charging device that can be used anywhere - from public stations to household outlets - and comes with many optional smart features making any power supply accessible to your electric Ford, thanks to its unlimited versatility. With a charging capacity of up to 22 kW and a cable length of 5 meters, it can provide everything you need, operating via a mobile phone app that has many monitoring and configuration options.
Charging at public stations
Special charging cables are available for the entire range of Ford all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, for easy and safe access to public stations or as an accessory, depending on the model that's right for you. So all drivers of PHEV and BEV Ford vehicles can charge seamlessly and without any problem at any public charging station in Greece and Europe. At the moment, it currently lists over 300,000 chargers across Europe, which includes the IONITY network of fast charging chargers.
In Greece, the Blue Oval Charge Network already lists over 300 chargers, while it supports all public chargers that have Roaming enabled, which means that they are "visible" through a smartphone type mobile phone.
Specifically for the all-electric Mustang Mach-E, Ford has developed and installed a highly advanced and efficient electrical circuit that can support a maximum charging power of up to 150 kW in publicly accessible DC speed chargers, ensuring that the battery can recover energy from 10% to 80% of its maximum capacity in just 38 minutes.
The charge in the palm of your hand
Whichever of the above solutions you choose to charge your electric Ford, the advanced FordPass app on your mobile phone makes it even easier as you'll never have to worry about whether your PEHV or BEV is charged or not. All you have to do is open the FordPass app and through it check the battery charge status before you set off on your next journey or trip.
At the same time, the FordPass app offers innovative features and capabilities that further enhance the experience of using a PHEV or BEV Ford vehicle, including:
Charging station locator, which helps drivers to identify and then be guided to the appropriate locations of public charging stations. The system provides useful information, such as the type of charging station (public or restricted access) and the plug in them
Functions that help drivers to make the most of charging by setting the times in advance to take advantage of the electricity tariffs. At the same time, functions are provided that enable the customer to set the level of charge he or she wishes to apply to the car's battery, while at the same time receiving the relevant notifications
Charging history, which helps customers to monitor and get an overview of the vehicle's battery charge, including the energy used, the distance travelled using only electricity, and the overall activity of the regenerative braking system.
