The CUPRA Terramar is the brand's new hero for a new era. The electrified sports SUV places CUPRA at the heart of the fastest growing market segment in Europe. Its bold approach is now being recognised by winning one of the seven finalist positions for the "Car of the Year 2025" award.
The CUPRA Terramar is a contender for the "Car of the Year 2025" title this year, expanding the brand's audience and attracting new customers looking for great design and more performance. Its nomination indicates the growing confidence of experts in CUPRA, as each new model launched is evaluated by the "Car of the Year" committee. The CUPRA Formentor was among the seven finalists in 2021 and the CUPRA Born followed in 2022.
"The selection of the CUPRA Terramar as a finalist for Car of the Year 2025 recognizes the brand's growth, which is becoming increasingly mature and more confident than ever about its identity without compromising authenticity," said Wayne Griffiths, CEO of CUPRA. "The CUPRA Terramar is a tribute to the iconic race track where CUPRA was born and redefines what SUVs can offer in terms of emotion, performance and design," he added.
Short presentation
The CUPRA Terramar adopts a new design language, with a bold and confident look both inside and out. Sustainability is a key element of the interior, as the bucket seats are upholstered in either fabric created from 100% recycled SEAQUAL® Dinamica® yarn containing at least 73% recycled polyester, or vegetable-treated leather.
The CUPRA Terramar is offered with five different powertrain options, covering three different technologies - TSI (petrol), eTSI (mild hybrid) and the new generation of plug-in hybrid powertrains (eHybrid), with power ranging from 150PS to 272PS.
The new-generation plug-in hybrid (eHybrid) engines of the CUPRA Terramar deliver up to 272 hp (200 kW) and provide more than 100 km of pure electric range.
The CUPRA Terramar was unveiled in early September, as part of the America's Cup. Under the slogan "Here's No Second", the brand unveiled a limited production version called "CUPRA Terramar America's Cup", which was the official car of the 37th edition of the race held in Barcelona.
The "Car of the Year 2025" committee evaluated 42 models, which formed the initial long list of candidates, resulting in the seven final contenders for the title.
The 60-member committee, composed of renowned automotive journalists from 23 European countries, will select the final winner in the next phase, who will be announced in early 2025, while our country is represented in the institution by the Editorial Director of 4 TROXOI magazine, Ms. Eleni Xenaki.
