The Alfaholics Giulia Super R 270 has its energy GTA-Rbut in "family style". Again, this is a restomod, i.e. a technological and modernizing conversion of a classic car. Here there are four doors and a spacious passenger compartment, making it a more palatable proposition for those who need to satisfy multiple transport needs not better served by the GTA-R, a coupe based on the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA 1300 Junior.
One can, in a way, consider the Alfaholics Giulia Super R 270 as a GTA-R intended for enthusiasts who also have children or elderly people at home, whose presence inside they don't want to be deprived of on certain excursions. Obviously, to get the most out of the performance image, it is better to be alone, in a safe environment, such as a track, where you do not endanger your life and the lives of others, or where, at least, you act in a more compatible and protected context.
The Alfaholics Giulia Super R 270 is a four-seater sedan based on the historic model of the same name. In its construction, the engineers and workers used the same love and care that is reserved for models with a sportier and more racing look. Here, moreover, there are greater doses of comfort and versatility. The transplanting of the GTA-R's performance components was entirely natural, as, as our colleagues at Carscoops, the Alfa Romeo Giulia and the GTA are based on the same platform.
The new restomod convinces those who love this formula, but it doesn't agree with the traditionalists who would like to protect the car's historical heritage without compromising its essence. The Alfaholics Giulia Super R 270 enjoys, as in the GTA-R, the momentum of a 2.3-litre in-line four-cylinder engine, made entirely of aluminium, which delivers a maximum power of 240 hp at 7,000 rpm, at a weight of less than 900 kg. Among the lightest components is a carbon fibre bonnet. Titanium suspension components are also part of the package.
If, mechanically, there are many similarities with the GTA-R, the exterior lines and cabin treatment are completely different. The interior of the Alfaholics Giulia Super R 270 has a classic look, with period-appropriate seats, but there are several modern elements, such as the induction phone charger, that are hidden from view to maintain the vintage feel. It makes some surprise to see the big steering wheel of the original Alfa Romeo Giulia on a 240bhp beast, but here the temptation to change hasn't been succumbed to.
