With the new racing season already underway, the partnership between BMW M Motorsport and LEGO has created a new set of models in the Speed Champions series that will attract interest. The new arrival will be a source of excitement for younger motorsport fans aged nine and up, while offering an authentic build and play experience for more mature collectors. With 676 pieces in total, this set offers detailed renderings of the two models enabling assembly game enthusiasts to create not one but two current BMW M Motorsport race cars: the BMW M Hybrid V8 and the BMW M4 GT3. These two race cars are the spearhead of BMW M Motorsport in races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will take place over the weekend of 15 and 16 June 2024.
The new Speed Champions miniatures stand out as carefully crafted replicas of the original cars. Original design features include the distinctive BMW M Motorsport colours, protruding air diffusers, visually striking exhaust tips and impressive spoilers, as well as an interior crafted with great attention to detail. In addition, the roofs of the two miniatures can be removed to allow the driver figures included in the kit to be placed in their respective cockpits. The set is therefore ready for exciting wheel-to-wheel races in children's rooms all over the world.
Replicas for young and old racing fans
Driven by the vision of creating iconic LEGO brick racing cars, the LEGO Speed Champions series has been bringing smiles to the faces of car enthusiasts and collectors of all ages for nearly ten years. This new set, which combines the BMW M Hybrid V8 and BMW M4 GT3, fits this tradition like a glove and allows additional target groups to experience the allure of motorsport and the engineering expertise of BMW M.
The latest addition to the LEGO Speed Champions series will ignite the racing passion of those who build the cars. Once completed, these two highly attractive models will enrich both collectors' showcases and starting grids for exciting races at home. The BMW M Hybrid V8 / BMW M4 GT3 set went on sale on 4 March 2024 at a recommended retail price of €49.99 and can be purchased from BMW dealers in the EU and UK, as well as from BMW's online store at lifestyle.bmw.com and LEGO.
BMW M Motorsport : return to the big racing scene
BMW M Motorsport celebrates its long-awaited return to international prototype racing with the BMW M Hybrid V8. The electric V8-powered racer passed its first test last season in the prestigious GTP class of the IMSA series and this year it is already competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC). Exactly 25 years after the BMW V12 LMR's triumphant overall victory at Le Mans, the launch of the BMW M Hybrid V8 in the legendary classic endurance race opens a new chapter in the BMW brand's prototype racing history.
BMW M Team WRT also participates with the BMW M4 GT3 in the FIA WEC races this season. This means that BMW M Motorsport will be represented in yet another class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the two hybrid BMW M Hybrid V8s battling it out in the hypercar class at Le Mans and the two purebred BMW M4 GT3s lining up in LMGT3.
