Some divas have higher demands than others. Some conditions are more demanding than everyday life. Some cars can't wear the same tyres as the rest. That's why Bridgestone has developed tyres specifically for the eyes of the new Lamborghini Huracán STO.
Ο Italian supercars manufacturer has chosen the Bridgestone as exclusive tyre supplier for the new Huracán STO, the luxury super sports model that is suitable for use on the track and on the road. In addition to the specially designed tyres Bridgestone Potenza Sport, which have been used up to now to deliver the Lamborghini Huracán STO, can now also be equipped with the specially developed tyres Bridgestone Potenza Race. The special Potenza Race tyres offer excellent adhesion to dry for excellent lap times and reliable cornering, braking and handling on and off the track.
High performance tyres
The specially designed Bridgestone Potenza Race tyres have been designed to enhance the incredible capabilities of the Lamborghini Huracán STO and allow to drivers experience real high performance. Building on Bridgestone's long heritage in the racing and high performance vehicles of Formula 1, for the first time designed the premium super sport tyre Potenza Race for the Lamborghini Huracán STO. In this context, the tread of the tyre is lined with the three colours of the Italian flag - which indicates that both the tyre and the vehicle designed in Italy - and of course it has the Lamborghini insignia.
The, available on request, Bridgestone Potenza Race promises excellent dry grip, thanks to the high performance of the optimized tread composition, the design and the sports profile of the tyre, which increases grip and handling in dry conditions. The tyre also features long-lasting performance on the track and excellent lap time capacity - result of maximized contact area and the uniform pressure distribution, which improves the braking and the turns. And thanks to the design of the frame, which allows high performance on normal roads, the tyre is suitable for both road and track use.
The development of the Bridgestone Potenza Race was largely based on the innovative virtual imaging technologies and tyre simulation of the company, which allow the development and testing of a digital twin tire. In this process, the virtual design and the simulation allowed Bridgestone and Lamborghini to find the optimum choice for the Huracán STO to maximise the tyre contact area and even pressure distribution, under more difficult conditions turning, braking and traction.
The use of this technology means that the tyre development period for the Huracán STO decreased while offering increased flexibility. The virtual environment allows testing many more variations of a given tyre, thanks to the exceptional speed of modifying the digital twin tyre and subjecting it immediately to a subjective test in the driving simulator, in order to ultimately reduce the time of the vehicle to market. The use virtual technologies also ensures that the selected tyre is the right tyre for the ideal application, as many alternatives have been considered during development and helps to provide various environmental benefits: Both the use of natural resources and exhaust emissions are reduced as fewer prototype tyres are needed to manufacture and physical testing is reduced.
Exclusive tyre supplier
Developed and manufactured in Europe, the bespoke Bridgestone Potenza Race tyres available are now manufactured as optional equipment for Lamborghini's Huracán STO. Alternatively, the Lamborghini Huracán STO is available with the also specialized tires Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires to maximise top performance of the supercar on the road.
