From 5.650€ The new Honda SH350i

Introduction

Two are the letters that dominate the streets of many
European cities:
SH. Over a million SH scooters have been sold in Europe in the last 36
years, giving the original
SH the prestige of an excellent product, under the umbrella of
famous quality of construction and reliability
Honda.

The SH300i with compact, stepthrough flat floor design and front/rear wheels 16
inch had all the traditional features
SH and something extra - a powerful engine with maximum
responsive for city and highway use.

It was the first Honda which met the specifications EURO4 in 2015. At the same time, the engine improvement measures
resulted in increased torque and reduced consumption. And in appearance, too,
gained more 'muscle volume', while with the upgrade of the chassis
freed up additional storage space while keeping the 'razor sharp'
his driving behaviour. In 2019, he acquired
Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC).

For 2021 the story continues: the new SH350i acquires a larger displacement, and consequently increased
horsepower and torque but also a more refined style, consolidating its position as a
the perfect scooter for every use.

The new engine eSP+ of SH350i combines excellent environmental characteristics with high
horsepower thanks to the application of friction reduction technologies.

With increased displacement by 50cc (330cc from 279cc,
without additional total weight) the water-cooled single-cylinder injection engine
Eccentric Head (1EEC/
SOHC) and 4 valves, delivering an increased power output of 21.5kW (29.2PS) (from 18,5kW of the previous model) at 7.500sal,
with maximum torque increased to 32Nm at 5,250rpm. The comparative graph
dynamometry gives an overall picture, showing the remarkable increase in the
of power and torque from 3,500sal. and above. From a standstill, the
SH350i accelerates to 200m 0.7 seconds faster, i.e. 10.2 seconds.

For the additional cubic centimetres, the diameter of the cylinder
increased from 72
mm at 77mm and the route respectively at 70,7mm. The compression ratio is 10.5:1. To utilize the
increased displacement, timing and valve timing have
optimized. Compared to the previous model, the closing of the valves
the opening/closing of the intake and exhaust valves are delayed by 5°. Η
immersion has increased by 0,3
mm. The opening time of the intake valves remains
He himself.

With its redesign, the crank is now 10%
lighter. This was achieved without any change in the dimensions of the hubs,
or sacrifices in rigidity and strength required for higher transmission
Power. Cocks with rotating sliders, crankshaft bushings
low-friction and watertight crankcase, offering long-lasting reliability
time and strong performance. To improve piston cooling, a piston injector is used to cool the piston.
oil, such as the one on the CRF450R, sprays oil into the rear of the piston,
improving ignition timing and combustion efficiency. The capacity
in lubricant is 1.85 litres.

With the upgrade of the intake, the spray butterfly
increased to 36
mm from 34mm, while the intake valves increased by 1mm, at 28mm, for the benefit of efficiency. Air fed from a
5.5 litre filter canister. The intake and exhaust flutes have been redesigned
fully. The intake lumen offers increased flow and swirl in the cylinder
for more stable combustion. The exhaust gases exit through a straight line and not through a
exhaust curve as before, further improving performance.

To reduce the flow resistance of the exhaust gases, the new
mufflers now consist of two separate compartments instead of three. Improvements
the design of the tube connecting the expansion chamber and the size of the tube
and the position of the catalyst also improve the flow and purification of the
exhaust gases.

Internal friction has been reduced thanks to the eccentric
positioning of the cylinder by 5mm, in the adoption hydraulic rim tensioner and the use of an oil return pump.
This pump, used in high performance engines, reduces the
internal pressure inside the engine, the stirring of the oil, and the
losses and internal friction in moving parts. A new
anti-vibration shaft minimises annoying first-order vibration
and contributes to a smooth, enjoyable ride.

An automatic centrifugal clutch controls a
V-Matic gearbox (with scaling suitable for strong acceleration at low speeds)
speeds) and the final transmission belt. For M.Y. 2021, the cover of the
engine has been redesigned in harmony with the new scooter body.

Ο engine of SH350i Features Honda Selectable Torque
Control (HSTC).
The system detects the
any speed difference between the front and rear wheels, it calculates the
degree of slippage and controls the engine torque through fuel injection for
recovery of traction  on the rear wheel.
The HSTC is switched on and off by a switch on the left-hand side
Grip. A 'T' indicator on the digital display flashes when the system
works by controlling traction.

The engine also meets EURO5 specifications, which by
the 1η January 2020 introduced much stricter emission standards
emissions compared to EURO4. According to this, the permitted emissions
carbon monoxide emissions have decreased significantly, while the reduction in total
allowable hydrocarbon emissions has exceeded 40%. Provided
tighter control of spontaneous combustion and a limit has been established on the number of
particles

Fuel consumption is low 30km/l (WMTC mode), while with a tank capacity of 9,1L the autonomy exceeds 270km.

Style

    drivers on emergency braking

The SH350i is a scooter that makes its presence felt in the
road, pointing out the
premium SH origin with a brand new design that will make the
copies the appearance of the smaller model and
bestseller of the family SH150i. The key words in the style are 'muscular' and
'surface tension'. Its new front makes it stand out: the headlight
LED now features a separation of the middle staircase into two
beams, while the main-beam headlamps are positioned high up on the steering wheel shell,
creating a modern, distinctive look. The redesigned rear
lantern
LED and the
turn signals shall be placed between the passenger handles now being manufactured
made of aluminium.

Of course, for a model SH functionality is just as important as
appearance. The riding position supports a variety of rider body types and
promises a comfortable, upright body position and excellent visibility. The total length
is 2160
mm, with
width 742
mm and
height 1161
mm. Η
minimum distance from the ground is 131
mm.

There is room for a full-face helmet under the saddle,
while its height remains practically low at 805mm (just 5mm more than the
SH125/150). There is also a new port
USB TypeC for easy charging of a mobile device. The standard
flat floor of the SH (width 435mm) facilitates the transport of loads and helps
the rider going up and down. A retractable hook
transport in the front panel increases practicality.

The new dashboard LCD includes all warning lights;
including the functions
HSTC and ABS - arranged around a central digital display
'Speedometer/mileage counter'. All functions of the panel are controlled via
A/B button on the left hand side of the grill.

The front and rear turn signals SH350i have new automatic cancellation function Emergency Stop Signal. Once the brain of the ABS detect sudden braking, the lights will flash
at high speed to warn other drivers.

Smart Key is a useful tool for the
a busy rider who is always on the move. Apart from controlling the
central switch and the lock on the locker, it is compatible with the
optional, removable top box suitcase of 35 litres. With the Smart Key on the
pocket of the rider, the top box locks automatically when the rider is removed,
while he can lock it himself from the key.
