Volvo S60 and V60 continue their 5-star streak

The new Volvo S60 and V60 have achieved the top five-star rating in EuroNCAP safety tests, continuing the streak of excellent results for the Volvo range.

The results confirm Volvo's reputation for safety. Every new model from the Swedish company is ranked among the safest cars on the road. From the V40 to the large XC90 SUV, all models currently in Volvo's range offer five-star safety technology.

The 2018 EuroNCAP test cycle is more demanding than ever, with new and more challenging tests for safety technologies such as cyclist detection with automatic braking and lane-keeping systems. The S60 and V60 are among the safest cars tested under the new regime.

"The results prove that Volvo is a consistent leader in safety, constantly pushing the boundaries in the development of new technologies," said Malin Ekholm, head of the Volvo Cars Safety Centre. "No matter which Volvo you choose, you can be sure that you and your loved ones will be travelling in one of the safest cars on the market."

The S60 and V60 share Volvo's SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform and the same safety technologies as the XC60 - the safest car in the 2017 EuroNCAP tests - and the top 90 Series models.

At the core of the umbrella of advanced safety systems available in all Volvos is the innovative City Safety system. In the S60 and V60, City Safety is enhanced with an automatic braking function in the event of an imminent head-on collision with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. This function is a world first. City Safety remains the only safety system on the market that can detect pedestrians, cyclists and large animals, day and night.

The new V60 was introduced earlier in 2018, continuing Volvo's excellent tradition of family wagons that meet the multi-faceted needs and realities of modern family life.

Last summer, Volvo unveiled the new S60. The S60 is the first Volvo to be built in the United States, at the company's first production facility in America, outside Charleston, South Carolina. The new S60 will be available in the European market in 2019.
