It can be he was a little late Renault, but Renault did it miracle of: With the Alpine Vision, a concept who even the stones know that he used as his inspiration the legendary Alpine A110, the French company is bringing the Alpine brand back into the picture, and with... summary procedures. Because this is the first timeshapeless, rear-wheel drive and explosive in terms of performance coupe, will hit the streets, if all goes as Renault plans, the 2017. And at a price... delicious, just over 50.000 euros, such as says Renault.
We don't want to spoil it for you, but don't be a party pooper. Why, the "more than 50,000", in Greece is "magically" transformed into something below 90.000 euros, due to - what else?- the taxes. Just as it happened with the Alfa Romeo 4C.
We, of course, do not undress, since hope always dies last (you know, maybe the writer will become prime minister and, then, you will see incentives for the purchase of sports cars and tax relief) and that's why we're already sugaring the Alpine before we see it in person. The Alpine Vision Concept, unveiled at a special event in Monaco, making a direct reference to Alpine's success in Monte Carlo Rally and will show us next month at the Geneva, with a production version to be revealed in the end of 2016.
Of course, this concept is a very important one.close to production so we shouldn't expect any dramatic changes to this stunning, retro-looking car. We will, however, have to wait to find out what's under the bonnet, how it goes on the road and how it looks in person.
It's good, though. to keep... a big basket, considering that it is made for to hit on BMW M2, the Porsche Cayman and the Alfa Romeo 4C, as well as many more fun to drive cars, but also that its development, as well as the evolution of all models (yes, it will release more, with the next one SUV) of Alpine, was taken over by a new team, under the former head of Renault Sport, Bernard Olliver. Well, you can't expect sterile cars from this man.
The first new Alpine model after 1995, when the company was silenced, will have weight about 1.100 kg and a turbo four-cylinder -probably a "tweaked- engine of the Clio RS, with automatic serial box, as indicated by the paddles on the steering wheel. And it will do the 0-100 h.a.o. in less than 4.5 seconds.
And how will it be on the road; "A true Alpine, means (that it will have) the DNA of Alpine, which is light, fast and pleasant to drive," Olliver tells Autocar magazine, noting that Renault believes that "a new Alpine should be first and foremost a modern car, with modern design and modern technology, and secondly a car that shows its heritage at the same time."
C' est magnifique, Renault...
