In the latest World Endurance Championship (WEC) event, the 6 Hours Of Monza, Toyota Gazoo Racing, led by drivers Mike Conway, Jose Maria Lopez, and Kamui Kobayashi, emerged victorious over Ferrari. This triumph was achieved through strategic final pitstops during a race marked by shifting leads between Ferrari, Toyota, Peugeot, and Porsche. Despite facing penalties, the number 8 Toyota team managed to secure a fourth-place finish, later demoted to sixth. Peugeot also made its mark with a maiden WEC podium finish, clinching third place. In the LMP2 category, the Jota team achieved its first season victory with drivers Pietro Fittipaldi, Oliver Rasmussen, and David Heinemeier-Hansson. Even though Porsche had a 1-2-3 victory in the GTE Am category, the championship title was claimed by Corvette drivers Nicky Catsburg, Nico Varrone, and Ben Keating. The championship is set to proceed at Toyota’s Fuji Raceway in Japan on 10 September.
