Η SKODA revealed the brand new FABIA, now in its fourth generation and 22
years after the debut of the model. With more than 4.5 million
units, the FABIA
is the second most popular SKODA model after the OCTAVIA and one of the best–sellers internationally in its category. The new SKODA FABIA based on the modular MQB-A0 platform
of the Volkswagen Group and is top of the range in terms of spaciousness, with a modern, inspiring design, additional improved features
comfort and many advanced safety and driver assistance systems. Combined
with classic and traditional brand values, such as quality/price ratio, the
high levels of functionality and a host of Simply Clever features,
make the new FABIA a true SKODA and a highly attractive proposition
in the category.
For the first time, the SKODA FABIA is based
on the Volkswagen Group's modular MQB-A0 platform, which made it possible
the increase of the internal and the adoption of security systems and
previously intended for higher category vehicles.
new model has surpassed the 4-meter mark, at 4.108 m, significantly
larger than his predecessor. The luggage space - which at 330 litres was
already the largest in its class - now up to 380 litres. At the same time,
combined with the robust bodywork, the new model offers excellent
active and passive safety.
Externally, the new SKODA FABIA is increased by about 11 million from the
predecessor, the wheelbase has increased by 94 mm to 2,564 mm and the
width, at 1,780 mm, is 48 mm wider. With sporty proportions, sculpted
lines and headlamps and rear lights with the brand's new crystal structure, with
LED technology in both cases as standard, the model has been given a
dynamic character. The new FABIA achieves a drag coefficient of Cd only 0,28 (previous generation: 0,32),
setting a new record in the category. This was made possible by using this
known as CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation. In
about three and a half years, SKODA's engineers calculated more than 3,000 of
these fluid dynamics simulations. The leading aerodynamic coefficient
due to the actively adjustable blinds on the front that close
automatically when there is little need for cooling, improving aerodynamics.
This results in fuel savings of up to 0.2 litres per 100 km when
the car is travelling at a constant speed of 120 km/h. For every kilometre
driving with the blinds closed, the new FABIA emits up to five
grams less CO2.
At the same time, the new SKODA FABIA has
special plastic decorations to improve aerodynamics - a first
in the category. Combined with a larger roof spoiler and side spoilers
that optimise the airflow to the rear. Corresponding improvement, using
CFD simulations, has also been achieved for the aerodynamic noise that passes
inside.
There is a choice of nine colours
bodywork for the new SKODA FABIA, with the two modern metallic colours Phoenix
Orange and Graphite Grey, to make their debut for the brand and the
range, respectively. Metallic Graphite Grey and pearlescent Black Magic can be used to create a new range.
also to be selected as contrasting colours for the roof, mirror covers
wings and the outline of the grille in front. The rims vary from
14 and 15 inch steel to light alloy, 18 inch.
Inside, the FABIA achieves the
perfect balance between excitement and ergonomics. Visually, it stands out
the free-standing screen of up to 9.2 inches above the centre console.
In addition to state-of-the-art entertainment/information systems, FABIA can
also be equipped with Virtual
Cockpit,
10.25-inch digital instrument panel, for the first time. It is configurable,
with the driver selecting from up to 5 layouts, including the layout
Sport, in which the tachometer is in the centre. As standard, the FABIA
has an analogue instrument panel and a 3.5-inch information display.
Thanks to the 2.564 mm wheelbase, approx.
10 cm longer than the previous one, there is a great sense of spaciousness. By
special design elements emphasize the width of the cabin and, depending on the
Active, Ambition and Style, there are clever colour combinations,
fabrics and linings with contrasting stitching and use of chrome. Furthermore
design touch of atmospheric ambient lighting while the driver
enjoys a multifunctional steering wheel, leather and sporty, with shift paddles
gearbox for the DSG.
The latest generation of SKODA FABIA is
the first that can be ordered with dual-zone Climatronic, as well as
air vents at the rear of the centre console to keep the rear air vents in the
passengers cool.
SKODA equips the new FABIA with
media/entertainment systems with screens from 6,5 to 9,2 inches.
car is always online thanks to the built-in eSIM. This makes it possible
receiving Internet radio or accessing the wide range of online services
SKODA Connect services for mobile devices and the latest apps
information/entertainment. Smartphones can be connected to the car via
SmartLink wireless connection without the need for a cable and be charged
inductively in phone
box. Available and
gesture control as well as the Laura digital voice assistant, which
understands 15 languages. The navigation systems in the new FABIA supported by web-based data
while the maps are updated from the internet. Up to five slots available
USB-C for charging further portable devices - one of which can be found
on the rear side of the centre mirror to charge a camera.
Η SKODA took full advantage of the possibilities
offered by the Volkswagen Group's MQB-A0 platform and optimised the
further the model in terms of active and passive safety. A
robust body structure with a high degree of torsional rigidity provides the technical
based on. A high proportion of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel or
steel that has undergone special hardening treatment ensures great
Stability. In addition, the MQB-A0 makes it possible to use advanced systems
assistance from higher tier vehicles. Travel Assist and Park Assist,
for example, make their debut in the new FABIA.
This is the first FABIA that can
be equipped with Travel Assist, which provides automatic longitudinal support, and
and lateral guidance. This can be activated by pressing a
button and combines several assistance systems at the same time. Up to 210
km/h, the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) automatically adjusts the speed to the
of the car with that of the preceding vehicles. Lane Assist, as
as the name suggests, helps keep the FABIA in the lane by carrying out
corrective steering movements, if necessary. Using Hands-on Detect,
Travel Assist checks whether the driver touches the steering wheel consistently. The
Improved Blind Spot Detect (Side Assist) is another option. This
warns the driver of vehicles up to 70 metres away and wanting to
overtaking or being in the blind spot of the car. Park Assist
operates at speeds of up to 40 km/h, displaying suitable parallel and vertical positions
parking and, if desired, undertakes the task of guiding the
driver when parking. The Maneuver
Assist uses sensors to detect an obstacle in front of or behind
the car when parking and automatically applies the brakes. The recognition
registration plates and the Front
Assist by
Pedestrian and Cyclist Protection are also new features for FABIA.
With up to nine airbags, the new SKODA
FABIA is one of the safest cars not only in its class but
and in general. It has airbags for the driver and front passenger, airbags for the driver and front passenger.
curtain and front side airbags. A knee airbag for the
driver and rear side airbags are optionally available for further
strengthening security. ISOFIX anchorage points and top points
are part of the standard equipment and are part of the standard equipment and are
optionally on the passenger seat. In this way, FABIA can
accommodate three securely fastened child seats.
The new FABIA is equipped with a wide range of powerful
and efficient engines that comply with the strict Euro emissions standard
6d. Their power output ranges from 65 PS (48 kW) to 150 hp (110 kW). Models with up to 95
PS (70 kW) are equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the
choice of a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG automatic
for the TSI 1,0
producing 110 PS (81 kW).
Two three-cylinder engines available
petrol engines MFI
multi-point spraying, with a capacity of 65
PS (48 kW) and 80 PS (59 kW) respectively. The two 1.0
TSI engines have plasma-coated cylinder blocks, which replace the plasma-coated cylinders.
Cast iron cylinder liners, which reduces internal friction
on the three cylinders. This reduces fuel consumption, emissions and,
with better heat distribution and heat dissipation in the combustion chamber, the thermal
load on the engine. This blade is only 150 microns (0.15 mm) thick.
Finally, the four-cylinder 1.5 TSI, with power
150 PS (110 kW) is the new top engine for FABIA. The technology
active cylinder (ACT) reduces fuel consumption as well as emissions
CO2. When the engine load is low, the system automatically and
virtually unnoticed by the driver, it deactivates two cylinders. All the
TSI engines available for the new SKODA FABIA have a filter
petrol particles.
The new FABIA has a lot of Simply Clever Features. With five brand new
and eight that make their debut in the FABIA, the model offers a total of
up to 43 practical details that make the vehicle easier to use in the
everyday life.
In the storage area in the centre console,
for example, a new clip for a credit card or parking ticket and a
elastic band, they keep exemplary order. A removable cup holder
between the front seats is an optional extra for greater comfort and
flexibility, while a box in the transmission tunnel provides rear passengers with a
smart storage option for small items. The box just needs to be
placed between the centre console and the rear seats and in the
then secured in place. For the first time a windscreen is also available,
for the optional panoramic roof. When not in use, it is folded
easily down to a third of its size and can be stored under the
luggage compartment cover. And of course, present many familiar Simply Clever solutions from other models of SKODA, such as a multi-purpose storage case
functions attached under the cover of the luggage compartment, which
transforms an otherwise unused space into a perfect storage area for
coats or jackets and can accommodate items weighing up to 3.5 kg, the
easily accessible smartphone storage pockets on the front backs
seats, the folding back of the passenger seat, as well as the
USB-C connector on the mirror.
The new SKODA FABIA is expected to make the
debut in Greece at the end of the year.
