Renault continues its momentum with the launch of the new Mégane and Talisman
At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Renault continues to impress with its dynamic performance. The new Renault Mégane, Talisman & Talisman Estate are the newest members of the brand's range, which is in full development, offering fully integrated proposals at every level and for every need.
Dynamic aesthetics with a distinctive bright signature
The dynamic presence of the new Renault Mégane is based on the balance of its proportions. Compared to its predecessor, the new model has a 64mm longer length (4,359mm), 25mm lower height (1,447mm), longer wheelbase and a 28mm longer wheelbase (2,669mm).
The new model bears the brand's bright new signature and also features chrome elements in places on both the grille and profile that enhance the sense of quality.
Aerodynamics has played a key role in the design with fixed and active elements in the bodywork reducing drag.
Thanks to its sculpted shoulders, the new Renault Mégane perfectly exudes the high aesthetics that are part of Renault's DNA. The sharp and precisely worked lines on the lower bodywork meet those on the engine cover, reinforcing the car's dynamic presence.
Separate bright signature
Inspired by the Renault Talisman unveiled in July, the new Renault Mégane features a distinctive bright signature at both the front and rear.
At the front, LED daytime running lights create the signature "C" shape that extends all the way to the bumper. Some versions feature full-LED (Pure Vision LED Technology) headlamps that offer significantly higher efficiency than their halogen counterparts.
In all versions, the LED rear lights are permanently illuminated to emphasise the width of the car. Their advanced technology allows not only the creation of a three-dimensional effect, but also the emission of a particularly intense red colour.
Elegant cockpit-style interior
Particular attention has been paid to the finish and quality of the materials to offer a new experience for the passengers of the new Renault Mégane.
A range of high-tech solutions are found inside, such as the colour head-up display which until now could only be found in higher-end models. At the same time the instrument panel consists of a display TFT 7'' combined with the 8.7'' R-Link 2 vertical touchscreen on the centre console.
Particular attention was paid to the quality and harmony offered by the cabin. The soft materials on the dashboard extend to a continuous surface at the top of the doors, as well as on the lower part of the dashboard and centre console.
The personalization of the interior according to the personal taste of the owner is possible through technology Multi-Sense, while the sound system from the company is specially designed for the new model. Bose.
The seats - available with heating and massage functions - hug passengers for ultimate comfort and support, with the frame following the architecture used in the Espace and Talisman.
The 434-litre (384 VDA) luggage compartment is the second largest in the class and comes with 25 litres of extra storage space. At the same time, the space for rear passengers is significantly increased (+20mm), with the new Renault Mégane offering ideal space for passengers and their luggage.
Technology from larger categories
The use of the CMF platform allows the new Renault Mégane to offer features that can only be found in larger classes such as the Espace and Talisman. Examples include the instrument panel with TFT screen, the R-Link 2 system (8.7'') and the Multi-Sense and 4Control systems.
The new Renault Mégane comes with the most advanced driver assistance systems controlled via the R-Link 2 display.
Increased safety: speed control via active cruise control (ACC), and automated emergency braking (AEBS).
Warning: lane departure warning (LDW), safe distance warning (DW), speed limit recognition (TSR) and blind spot warning (BSW).
Comfort: reversing camera, automatic headlamp levelling (AHLB), parking sensors and automatic parking system.
Multi-Sense technology
Already available in Espace and Talisman, the technology Multi-Sense allows users to personalise the driving experience offered by the car through adjustments to the engine response, the operation of the EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission and the lighting of the cabin. All of the above is controlled via a dial on the centre console, and the following are offered 5 programs.
Dynamic engines with up to 205 hp
From the launch of the model, the petrol engine will be under the bonnet of the new Renault Mégane Energy TCe 205 (Mégane GT version) that will be mated to the automatic transmission dual-clutch EDC 7-speed. At the same time, the Energy dCi 165 diesel engine with 6-speed EDC will be available from 2016 to complement the GT range.
The new Renault Mégane will also use the Energy dCi 110 diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox that emits just 86g/km of CO2 and carries the ECO2 badge.
Finally, the range will be completed by the Energy dCi 90, 110 & 130 diesel engines, as well as the Energy TCe 100 & 130 petrol engines (also available with 7-speed EDC transmission)
Finally, in early 2017 a diesel "Hybrid Assist" version will be added that will consume less than 3 litres/100km of fuel and emit just 76g/km. This value will be achieved by recovering energy during deceleration and using it during acceleration.
The new Renault Mégane GT: Inspired by racing
The new Renault Mégane GT makes it clear at first glance that it has been created with Renault Sport's DNA in mind. The redesigned bumpers with their oversized air intakes and the special Iron Blue colour make it clear that the car belongs to the GT family. The 18" wheels were designed specifically for the model by Renault Sport, while the exhausts and diffuser are inspired by the world of F1. Similarly, the seats with integrated headrests and blue stitching stand out for both the support they offer and the comfort they provide. The specially designed steering wheel, paddles and the "Race" option in the Multi-Sense system complete the picture of this special version.
New Renault Talisman and Talisman Estate: style, comfort and driving pleasure
Following the launch of the new Renault Talisman last July, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Renault is presenting the Estate version. The D segment accounts for more than 1m sales per year of which 54% is for estate versions. The Talisman Estate carries all the dynamic features of the 4-door version, with increased practicality.
