Ram 1500 Revolution BEV: Ram redefines the pickup category

With a new design language, practical solutions and cutting-edge technology, the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV is equipped with two electric motors that give it four-wheel drive and an 800V electric system with charging capability of up to 350 kW

At CES 2023 in Las Vegas (January 5-8), Ram unveiled the 1500 Revolution BEV Concept, a prototype all-electric vehicle that aims to redefine the pickup truck category.

Starting with the Ram 1500 BEV in 2024, Ram will stand out by gradually offering a range of all-electric vehicles that will cover a wide range of customers.

"The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept is our clear message that we are preparing something extraordinary for the brand in its electrification journey.", said Mike Koval Jr., CEO of Ram. "In Ram in the past we have redefined the category of pickup and now we will do it again for the all-electric future."

Alongside the importance of the model for the brand, the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept also plays an important role in the electrification strategy for the entire Stellantis Group, in line with the Group's Dare Forward 2030 plan.

On a design level, the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept shows the new road, where the wild character you expect from a pickup truck is combined with the harmonious elements and the technological profile of an all-electric vehicle. The bold bright signature frames the new grille with the Ram logo, while the profile reveals the entrance to the interior where the middle pillar (b-pillar) is absent. The equation in a vehicle in this class could not be missing the practical solutions that are not limited to the cargo area, but make their presence felt strongly in the interior. Digital technology dominates here, as does the intelligent use of environmentally friendly materials. At the same time, the extensive use of parts manufactured using 3-D printers, in addition to reducing weight, also help to minimise aerodynamic drag.

The basis for the development of the model is Stellantis' innovative all-electric platform, STLA Frame. In addition to the advanced electrification system, the platform accommodates a range of advanced safety and connectivity systems, while also offering significant benefits in terms of space utilisation.

Another innovation is the existence of a third row for passengers. Some 50 years ago, pickups with rear passenger seats were introduced and now Ram, taking advantage of the STLA Frame features, offers a third row of folding seats and a door allows access from the passenger cabin to the cargo area.

The new platform designed specifically for pure electric vehicles will offer high performance and autonomy. The availability of two engines ensures the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV has 4×4 drive capability, while the active four-wheel drive system improves manoeuvrability. The model's STLA Frame chassis is based on an 800V electric circuit architecture that enables the car to be charged with up to 350 kW of power.

In this way the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept can achieve a range of 100 miles (160km) in just 10 minutes. Alongside the prototype's unveiling at CES 2023, the brand also unveiled an innovative "robotic" charger, which, once it detects the vehicle's presence in the parking lot, automatically approaches it and connects with it so that charging can take place.

The Ram 1500 BEV, the first all-electric model in Ram's history, is expected to go on sale in early 2024. The Ram brand is part of the Stellantis Group and specialises in the design and production of commercial vehicles, having built up a huge tradition particularly in the pickup vehicle segment.
