In particular, Nissan is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the NISMO today. NISMO was established on September 17, 1984 as Nissan Motorsport International Co. Limited and is the motorsport and performance division of Nissan. It represents the embodiment of the company's dedication to performance, both on the track and on the road.

Historically headquartered in Omori, Tokyo, NISMO has always been the driving force behind Nissan's most exciting vehicles and achievements in motorsport. The phrase "Track to road" embodies NISMO's goal to deliver the ultimate Nissan performance for road car drivers, drawing inspiration and experience from the toughest testing ground - the track.

Emblematic models

To celebrate the anniversary, visitors to the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery in Yokohama, Japan can view a variety of NISMO models including the extremely rare NISMO 270R and the unique NISMO 400R, along with racing legends such as the Nissan R390 GT1, which took 3rd place at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Nissan R91CP which won the 24 Hours of Daytona and the Calsonic Skyline GT-R Group A, the reigning Japan Touring Car Championship (JTCC) champion.

In addition, vehicles from the current NISMO model range in Japan are on display, including the Ariya NISMO, AURA NISMO and FAIRLADY Z NISMO. The exhibition will run until Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Head of Nissan's global motorsport business unit and president of the NMC Takao Katagiri said: "We would like to thank everyone who has supported NISMO since 1984. We intend to continue to deliver speed, confidence and enthusiasm as we have in the past and for decades to come. Our "Track to Road" commitment finds expression today in our factory Super GT and Formula E racing programs."

Speaking about the future, Katagiri said: "Our goal is to deliver excitement to fans on the track and incorporate the insights from the track into products that customers can buy. Our long-term goal is to gradually expand our business globally, providing more exciting NISMO models to customers around the world."

The celebration continues with the NISMO 2024 Festival, scheduled for December 1 at Fuji International Speedway (in Shizuoka province). This year's festival is dedicated to NISMO's 40th anniversary, paying tribute to the brand's rich heritage, racing achievements and high-performance car development.
