The brand new, mid-sized Ford Explorer is an all-electric crossover intended for an active lifestyle and designed in Europe with the needs of consumers on the old continent in mind, where it is produced at the advanced Ford Cologne Electrification Center in Germany.
The new EV is set to usher in a new era for the company and at the same time revolutionise the current growing electric mobility industry, offering a highly advanced package that stands out for its premium passenger and luggage space, next-generation seamless connectivity and unparalleled performance, among other things.
At the same time, in addition to its futuristic exterior design, the new Ford Explorer is distinguished by its top levels of practicality, luxury, extensive equipment, leading driver assistance technologies and advanced charging and autonomy features.
Now, the new Ford Explorer is immediately available for order in Greece in Extended Range battery versions with either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), through the use of highly efficient fixed-magnet electric motors. Later in the year, the range will be enriched with Standard Range battery-powered versions.
The RWD rear-wheel drive version of the new Ford Explorer delivers a maximum power output of 286PS and 545Nm of instant torque, while the AWD four-wheel drive version delivers 340PS and 684Nm. Performance is also top notch, with a top speed of 180 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration completed in 6.4 seconds for the Explorer RWD and 5.3 seconds for the Explorer AWD.
With next-generation top charging and a range of up to 602 km
The new Ford Explorer is equipped with an advanced electrical circuit that supports all types of charging in both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC). On a high-power DC fast charger, the lithium-ion battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes for AWD versions, and on a full charge the new Ford Explorer RWD is capable of achieving a range of up to 602 km.
Charging and range information for the new Ford Explorer is available using the advanced FordPass app, through which customers can schedule charging at the times they want to take advantage of favourable tariffs (for example at night) while ensuring that charging is such that they can complete their upcoming journeys seamlessly.
Also, with the FordPass app, drivers can set their departure times by activating the pre-conditioning function to achieve the ideal temperature in the cabin while the vehicle is charging, storing more electricity in the battery.
Also, the new Ford Explorer's connected navigation system, combined with the intelligent trip planner (EV Trip Planner), can identify where public charging stations are located during the journey, encouraging drivers to charge at the most convenient locations so they don't have to worry about the remaining range.
