With the power of lightning comes the all-electric Maserati GranCabrio Folgore. On the evening of Monday 15 April, in an event full of energy and immersed in an atmosphere that evokes transformation, innovative dynamism, ingenuity, creative inspiration and a whole new experience that heralds an exciting new journey into the future, the Maserati uploaded "Made in Thunder", an introduction to Folgore, the new 100% electric chapter of the House of Trident.
The event was opened by the hypnotic and exciting sound experience by the internationally renowned Italian artist and friend of Trina Dardust, to greet the sunset and welcome the arrival of a new era in the name of Folgore.
This was followed by the talented Italian actress Matilda De Angelis, accompanied by a brilliant Italian representative of the world of science, astrophysicist and communicator Edwige Pezzulli, guest of Trident for this special occasion. They officially opened the event and introduced the evening to the audience: together, they presented the early history of the Motor Valley brand - which this year celebrates 110 years of the fascinating wealth of automotive and racing history - on the same day of the year in which the greatest Italian genius who ever lived, Leonardo da Vinci, was born, and on the national day celebrating Made in Italy.
Electric luxury under the open sky
The artistic and creative vigour of the Tuscan scientist, inventor and artist, as well as the renowned excellent products produced in Italy, were the impetus that Maserati made its own to enter the new era of the Trident, with Folgore as the flag bearer of the Italian flag around the world, represented by the all-electric range of the Modena-based company.
After the two young Italian stars had done their homage, the stage was taken over by the world premiere of the car that takes a leading role in Maserati's electric era, with the same subversive power as lightning: the GranCabrio Folgore, the 100% built in Modena and 100% all-electric convertible.
Elegant, attractive, sporty and adventurous, a harmonious and tough synthesis of all the innovation without sacrificing the pleasure of a car with the ultimate in comfort and distinctive craftsmanship, the GranCabrio Folgore is the first 100% electric convertible in the luxury segment and the fastest on the market. Following the GranTurismo Folgore, the brand's first all-electric icon, and the Grecale Folgore, the first 100% electric SUV in Trident history, the new open-top Maserati completes the Modena-based company's current all-electric offering.
The power of innovation
With its new "creature", the child of the most overwhelming force of innovation, Maserati is once again a pioneer and a trailblazer in the automotive world, where electrification now sets the limits and rules, interpreted and set by the Italian luxury brand with its timeless creations that can combine the brand's strong DNA according to new, modern stylistic, technological and engineering inspirations.
The exhibition continued with talks by Klaus Busse and Davide Grasso. Maserati's Head of Design led the audience on a journey of discovery of the beauty and spirit of the GranCabrio Folgore, which for its debut wore the exclusive Liquid Rose Gold colour, Titan Grey soft top and sophisticated Denim and Ice interiors with contrasting stitching - a jewel of the Maserati Fuoriserie personalisation programme. It told the story of the car's distinctive features, from its captivating design and stunning performance to the unmistakable signature Folgore sound and incredible technical specifications derived from Formula E cars and shared with Maserati for mass production.
Together with a group of Maserati family representatives, the Maserati CEO took the reins of the show for the final farewell, thanking the guests who came to witness the new electric future of Maserati. Recalling how the tempestuous, harmonious meeting and conflict between art and science has for centuries generated and inspired the quest for perfection inherent in Italian DNA and how the same impulse has always characterized the work and spirit of Maserati, Davide Grasso noted that there could be no Maserati without Italy, even in the new electric chapter of the brand's history, as he officially welcomed the new era.
Folgore is the voice of Maserati's future, a lightning bolt that inspires new energy and ignites the future of the brand.
