Coinciding with National Autonomous Vehicle Day in the US, Jeep today gives us a glimpse of the future generation of off-road driving systems.
A team led by Neda Cvijetic, Head of AI & Autonomous Driving at Stellantis, tested in Moab, Utah, the latest prototypes with off-road automated driving technology developed exclusively for the Jeep brand.
Installed on two Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, this innovative technology can enhance the off-road experience for both skilled and trained off-roaders and customers who are not initiated to driving on rough trails. It will also help Jeep owners in difficult everyday driving conditions. Jeep is at the forefront of developing off-road automated driving technology while expanding its leadership position in off-road vehicle electrification with its full line of 4xe SUVs.
"In the same way that 4xe all-wheel drive takes us to new levels in terms of Jeep's off-road capability, these new, advanced driving systems will help more customers around the world experience and enjoy adventure. These features and the technology they are based on will have real-world applications on and off-road in a wide range of driving conditions," said Christian Meunier, CEO of the Jeep brand.
Jeep will release this summer the full video showing the future generation of autonomous off-road driving systems.
