Nissan recently unveiled the e-POWER Sylphy, the first model equipped with the award-winning e-POWER technology, destined for the Chinese market.

With e-POWER, the petrol engine is used exclusively to generate electricity, while the wheels are driven entirely by the electric motor. Thanks to full electrification, there are no transmission losses as with the internal combustion engine or the traditional hybrid system. The instant response, like an EV, offers the thrilling sensation of high torque and better acceleration at different speeds, making overtaking easier and more confident, while eliminating the need for charging. The e-POWER Sylphy is designed to meet the demands of buyers looking for exceptional mobility options from "electrified" vehicles.

"The launch of the Nissan e-POWER Sylphy in China represents Nissan's determination to introduce cutting-edge technologies to this key market, accelerate the company's vision of electrification and help achieve China's carbon neutrality goals," said Takeshi Yamaguchi, vice president of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. and managing director of Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company. "The e-POWER is designed to deliver a completely new driving experience to China's buying public, offering high-quality mobility in the electric mobility era."

Enjoyable and comfortable to drive, the Nissan e-POWER Sylphy delivers 300 Nm of torque with a fuel consumption of just 3.9lt per 100 km. At the same time, the model offers five drive options for outstanding performance and excellent fuel consumption.

First introduced in Japan with the Nissan Note in 2016, e-POWER has been well received by the market, with cumulative sales of e-POWER models topping 500,000 units at the end of March. In China, the technology is expected to contribute to the government's sustainable development charter set by the government and aligned with Nissan's global goal of achieving carbon neutrality in its operations and product lifecycle by 2050. As part of this effort, by the early 2030s, every brand new Nissan vehicle offered in key markets will be "electrified".

The e-POWER Sylphy puts Nissan's plan to launch six e-POWER models in China by 2025 on track, as part of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision to change the way we drive, ride and integrate vehicles into society.

And in Europe, Nissan is developing the plan towards an all-electric range from fiscal 2023, with the launch of both the all-electric Ariya crossover and the Qashqai e-Power being the first steps.
