A few days ago the new BMW 5 Series sedan was launched. At the same time, BMW Welt is dedicating an exclusive, special exhibition to the world's most successful business sedan. Visitors have the opportunity to get to know two models up close and learn about the new technical features through a hands-on experience. Film fans will be able to see the new BMW film "The Escape" and the actual car used in the filming along with various support vehicles.

The latest film in the BMW Films series, "The Escape", stars the new BMW 5 Series sedan. Clive Owen, Hollywood actor and cult figure in "The Hire" films, plays a mysterious, hired driver while rising star Dakota Fanning plays Lily, a clown, in an action-packed short film with thrilling chases and breathtaking stunts. Until 25 February, visitors to BMW Welt have the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the first BMW 5 Series from the film "The Escape". Other support vehicles and exclusive glimpses into the filming of the movie make this special exhibition a unique experience - and not just for cinephiles.
"The Escape" is a tribute to BWM Films' legendary series "The Hire" on its 15th anniversary. A total of eight of these films were shot in two segments in 2001 and 2002. Each featured well-known Hollywood names, both in front of and behind the cameras. Along with Clive Owen as a hired driver, stars such as Forest Whitaker, Mickey Rourke, Madonna, Gary Oldman and James Brown participated. Legendary directors such as Guy Ritchie, Ang Lee, David Fincher and Ridley Scott created Hollywood-level BMW short films, which did not go unnoticed at international film festivals. Apart from the 'Titanium Lion' award at Cannes, 'The Hire' won almost all other awards at the creative arts level.

Sporty, sleek and stylish, the seventh generation of the BMW 5 Series was launched in global markets in February 2017. An unrivalled range of advanced technologies and improved road handling make the new BMW 5 sedan a highly attractive package. The new BMW 5 Series sets new standards in connectivity and driver support as it stands beside the driver on everyday commutes. The dynamic nature of the new premium car is also reflected in the exhibition at BMW Welt.
From the beginning of February, visitors can experience the latest generation of the BMW 5 Series sedan in a special area opposite the BMW Welt Lifestyle Shop. Multimedia technologies are used to highlight the innovative, key features of the new 5 Series, such as new controls and displays, BMW Connected digital travel assistant, and the various driver support systems. Touchscreens offer visitors a comprehensive insight into the dedication and innovation that characterizes the evolution of this vehicle. One area of the showroom is designed with a multi-sensory experience in mind. There, visitors can discover the Ambient Air Package, which is offered as an option with the new BMW 5 Series. At the push of a button, the Ambient Air Package emits a subtle, pleasant scent into the interior. Visitors can sample two of the eight available fragrances at the showroom. Ambient lighting creates a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, emphasising the vehicle's sense of luxury and acting as a light source. An illuminated "5" in the exhibition shows the variety of lighting options and the moods they create.

With sales of around 7.9 million vehicles by the end of 2016, the BMW 5 Series is one of the core BMW model families. The sixth generation alone recorded over 2.1 million sales, making it a global leader in the premium segment of the upper midsize segment. The seventh generation is now coming to defend its leadership with impressive innovations. Intelligent voice control, gesture recognition and a 70% larger head-up display combined with BMW Connected networked services, and functions such as on-street parking information and Remote 3D View are some of the notable features of the BMW 5 Series sedan.
The new BMW 5 Series sedan will be on display throughout 2017 in a special showroom. "The Escape" will be shown there until the end of February. On 14 February, the first customer received his new BMW 5 Series sedan at BMW Welt.
