With the automotive industry
is developing rapidly and the requirements are becoming more and more
complex, Alfa Romeo was one of the first manufacturers to
created a facility specifically designed for the development of models
of. In its original form, in 1961, the Balocco test centre occupied
area 2 km2 and enabled the testers to develop
the new models in complete secrecy. Then, with constant updates,
the Balocco Proving Ground now occupies an area larger than
5.5 km2, being one of the most important facilities of the
species around the world.
On the occasion of the 60η anniversary of the construction
of this legendary establishment, in which all modern Alfa Romeos were born, the Museo
Storico Alfa Romeo, prepared a
online trip to Balocco. In addition to reporting on previously unknown
stories from the test centre, the museum staff have prepared and
a video showing the development of the centre and
comparing today's facilities with those of 1961. The event will
