On 5 June 2018, the 3-cylinder Turbo 1.2 PureTech (110 hp and 130 hp) petrol engine, now available in all new Citroen models, was named "Engine of the Year" in the 1.0 to 1.4 litre category for the fourth consecutive year by the jury of the 20th International Engine of the Year Awards in Stuttgart, Germany, and Engine Technology International magazine.
Features such as comfort, performance, noise, fuel consumption and smooth engine operation are assessed by a panel of 58 industry journalists from 31 countries around the world.
The International Engine of the Year Awards includes eight categories. To be nominated for the title, an engine must be used in a passenger car sold in more than one country by last June.
PSA Group has filed 210 patents for the 3-cylinder petrol engine family. The new 1.2 PureTech engine offers improved performance, fuel consumption and efficiency, with specific benefits:
- an improvement in fuel consumption of 4% on average compared to the previous generation,
- improving the engine response time,
- 75% reduce particulate emissions.
The new generation of 1.2 PureTech engines has now been implemented across the entire Citroen range.
