Following the new C5 Aircross, the C-Class SUV unveiled in April at the Shanghai Motor Show, Citroën is stepping up its assault on the SUV segment in 2017. Today the brand unveils the new Citroën C3 Aircross NEXT GEN.SUV that is poised to conquer a market segment that grew fivefold between 2012 and 2016 both in Europe and globally.
Inspired by the C-Aircross prototype unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and featuring Citroën's classic design motifs, the new C3 Aircross brings another freshness to the compact SUV segment. On the outside, it stands out with its unique body style and unprecedented personalisation options, which gives it a dynamic personality. Inside, it innovates through the comfort on offer, which is part of the
Citroën Advanced Comfort® for more space, flexibility and brightness.
The new Citroën C3 Aircross is a 4.15-metre SUV that is distinguished by its powerful, original and fresh profile. Its bodywork features the unique styling that is fully representative of Citroën's new models and all the characteristics of a powerful and dynamic SUV, including increased ground clearance, a high driving position, front and rear skid plates, large wheels and wheel arch guards.
This imposing style is enhanced by bold features such as accents of colour on the roof bars and the distinctive third side glass gives a sense of exceptional brightness to the interior. The new C3 Aircross offers a unique and unprecedented level of personalisation, which includes 85 exterior combinations, including three roof colours for two-tone models and four Colour Packs, as well as five very special and distinctive interior trims. The cabin, with its horizontal approach, clearly offers a sense of spaciousness and safety. The new C3 Aircross is also the very definition of an SUV in terms of driving pleasure and "set-up". Versatile in the city thanks to its compact dimensions and ready for adventure thanks to its Grip Control® and Hill Assist Descent systems, C3 Aircross is offered with a wide range of economical and efficient petrol and diesel engines.
THE SPACES
The Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, which focuses on mental and physical well-being, is what shapes the practical and dynamic personality of the NEXT GEN.SUV. Through its intelligent architecture, the new C3 Aircross is a compact SUV that makes everyday life easier without absolutely no compromise on comfort or functionality. The cabin accommodates spacious and comfortable seating and offers a large distance between the passengers and the roof (the highest roof height in the class and an exceptionally large knee space), unparalleled interior configurability (rear seat split into two independent parts that slide back and forth by 15cm, passenger seat with a folding backrest that can carry objects up to 2.40 metres in length), while the loading capacity of the luggage volume is excellent, with the largest capacity in the SUV class: 410 to 520 litres.
The journey is made more enjoyable by the opening panoramic glass sunroof that lets light into the car's interior. In keeping with the times, the C3 Aircross features smart storage spaces, including a wireless smartphone charging point in the centre console. And it's available with a full range of 12 driver assistance systems, including a head-up display, Active Brake Safety automatic braking, automatic headlight switching, speed limit recognition with recommendations, as well as useful technologies such as Park Assist and Citroën Connect Nav.
THE 12 DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS
Developed according to the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, the new
Citroën C3 Aircross NEXT GEN.SUV was also designed for seamless use.
To this end, it is equipped with intuitive technologies - aimed at
peace of mind and road safety - with a full range of systems
that makes every journey easier and safer:
– Keyless entry and start (Keyless entry and start-up): system that
allows the driver to enter the vehicle and start the engine without a key.
– Colour head-up display (Display of colour indications on the windscreen):
provides the driver with useful driving information within his or her field of vision. The data (on speed, cruise control, speed limitation system, etc.) is displayed in colour on a retractable transparent surface and is visible at all times, without the driver having to take their eyes off the road.
– Top Rear Vision reversing camera (Rear view camera): for an extended field of vision and easier manoeuvring. When the driver reverses, the camera displays an image of the area behind the vehicle on the 7-inch touchscreen, with colour reference points indicating proximity to any obstacles, and a reconstructed image offering a 180° view of this area.
– Park Assist (Parking Assist): makes it looser, easier and more comfortable to park.
safer parking. Park Assist is an active parking assistance system for parallel and vertical parking. When requested by the driver, it automatically identifies the appropriate space and then controls the steering for a completely safe parking. The driver's only action is to reverse, accelerate and brake.
– Active Safety Brake (Active Autobrake System): gives audible and visual warning to reduce the risk of a frontal collision and, if necessary, brakes instead of the driver. The multifunction camera on the top of the windscreen detects obstacles, such as vehicles moving in the same direction or stationary. At speeds between 5 km/h and 85 km/h, the system automatically applies the brakes if a risk of collision is detected. The speed of the vehicle must not exceed 80 km/h when a stationary vehicle is detected and 60 km/h when pedestrians are involved.
– Lane Departure Warning System (Lane Departure Warning System): to combat drowsy driving or a simple moment of inattention at speeds above 60 km/h. The system detects any accidental passing of the wheels over road markings (continuous or broken line) when the indicators are not activated and warns the driver with an audible signal and a message on the instrument panel.
– Blind Spot Monitoring System (Blind Spot Monitoring System): alerts the driver to the presence of a vehicle in the blind spots of the side mirrors by means of an icon on the mirrors.
– Speed limit recognition system and recommendation (Speed Limit Recognition and Recommendation System): drivers receive this information via the instrument panel and the system records the speed indicated as the setting for cruise control and speed limitation.
– Intelligent beam headlights (Automatic Light Switching): this system
automatically changes from the large to the middle "ladder" of lights (and
vice versa), depending on lighting and traffic conditions, for safer driving at night.
– Driver Assistance Alert (Driver Help Warning): for
monitoring the driver's behaviour via the multifunctional camera on the upper part of the windscreen and warning the driver if a reduction in alertness is detected. This system assesses the driver's level of attention by identifying differences in the car's trajectory in relation to road markings. It is specially adapted for use on express roads at speeds above 65 km/h.
– Coffee Break Alert (Break warning after 2 hours of continuous driving): drivers are advised to take a break after driving continuously for two hours at speeds above 70 km/h.
– Grip Control® with Hill Assist Descent (Traction Control with Assisted Traction
Downhill): for unrestricted driving, adapted to all types of roads and maintaining low speed even on steep gradients.
...AND 4 CONNECTIVITY TECHNOLOGIES
For a more seamless driving experience, but also for an increasingly
intuitive functions, the new Citroën C3 Aircross NEXT GEN.SUV invests in continuous connectivity and infotainmet, the system that combines information and entertainment. It is expressed through the 7-inch touchscreen which ends up being considered the vehicle's control centre through which the driver can access the 12 assistance systems in the audio system and air conditioning. So to make your car an extension of yourself and stay connected, the C3 Aircross offers the
following data:
– Wireless Smartphone charging, σε ειδική βάση.
