Hello dear listeners, and welcome to today’s TSF1 Greece Podcast for the World Endurance Championship (WEC), 6 Hours Of Fuji.

Toyota Gazoo Racing marked a significant achievement in the Hypercar category with a 1-2 finish, securing the FIA WEC Hypercar Manufacturers’ World Championship. The #7 GR010 led the pack, with the #8 car closely tailing. While Toyota’s victory might seem straightforward, they faced intense competition, notably from the #6 Porsche Penske 963, which dominated for over half the race. This impressive run by Porsche highlighted the LMDh platform’s potential in the WEC. However, Toyota’s resilience ensured their fifth victory in 2023 and a sixth consecutive win at Fuji. In contrast, Ferrari AF Corse’s 499Ps couldn’t reach the podium, enabling Toyota to clinch the Manufacturer’s title for the fifth consecutive season. Ferrari grappled with grip issues and inexperience, while Peugeot’s 9X8s settled for seventh and eighth positions.

In the LMP2 segment, WRT was on the verge of a 1-2 finish. The #41 crew, despite early challenges, displayed remarkable determination. Robert Kubica’s pivotal role ensured the team’s victory, positioning them strongly for the season finale. Their main rivals, the #22 United Autosports ORECA, engaged in a gripping duel with the #31 WRT ORECA, adding to the race’s excitement.

The GTE Am class was rife with drama. The #54 AF Corse Ferrari clinched their first win of the season. However, post-race penalties altered the final standings. The #57 Ferrari’s penalty promoted the #33 Corvette Racing C8.R to second place. Despite the Corvette team’s challenges, including two significant penalties, the final results showcased the unpredictable and fiercely competitive nature of motorsport.
