Global growth and 2024 for 2024 for the Renault, as it reported sales of 1,577,351 vehicles (PC + LCV) for the second consecutive year of growth, an increase of 1.8%. This success is based on the principles of the Renaulution plan, which has been implemented and followed for the last four years:
- Sales of electrified vehicles increased by 20% in Europe, confirming the relevance of Renault's bold choices in both product and technology.
- The sales of Full Hybrid vehicles increased by 30%, which brought Renault to 2η position of the European market, while sales of pure electric vehicles (PC + LCV) showed an increase of 9%[1].
- The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, which recently won the 'Car of the Year 2025' title, got off to a strong start in the first countries where it was launched. It is already the best-selling electric city car in the segment B in France, for the months of November and December.
- Particular attention has been paid to the qualitative characteristics of sales, as one in two sales in Europe are to retail customers.
- With the commercial success of Kardian and Koleos in Renault's International Game Plan, sales increased by 10% in Brazil, 81% in South Korea and 7% in Morocco.
- Thanks to a balanced strategy between passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, Renault reaffirmed its leading position in the European LCV market, achieving a market share of 15.3% and 310,500 vehicle sales, which translates into an increase of 4.6%.
Thanks to a unique product offensive with the launch of eight new models in 2024 (Scenic E-Tech electric, Rafale, Symbioz, Master, Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, Renault Duster, Kardian and Grand Koleos) and one refreshed model (Captur), Renault increased its global sales by 1.8%, in a market where growth was 1.4%, while total vehicle sales reached 1.577,351 units, 28,000 units more than in 2023.
In Europe1, the brand recorded growth of 3.3%, double that of the market (1.7%), recording sales of 1,009,000 vehicles, with a share of 6.7%. This growth is mainly due to the brand's core markets:
- Great Britain (+21.4% in sales volume in a market that grew by 2.8%),
- Spain (+10.8% in a market that grew by 8%),
- Italy (+6.7% in a market that decreased by 0.3%),
- France (+0.4% in a market that fell by 2.5%).
It is worth noting here the great achievement of the Clio, which is ranked in 2nd place in the world.η position in the passenger car market, moving up two places by 2023, with sales growth of 7%.
20% increase in sales of electrified vehicles in the European market
To meet the needs of all customers, Renault is implementing a two-pronged electrification strategy, offering the best of both hybrid and electric technologies. Sales of electrified vehicles (electric + hybrid) increased by 20% in Europe in 2024.
- Renault's full Hybrid range in Europe covers the entire spectrum of needs (from Clio to Rafale, with seven full Hybrid vehicles from segment B to D). In 2024, Renault achieved a 30% increase in sales of its full Hybrid vehicles, which now account for 40% of sales of internal combustion engine models. Renault is the 2η brand in Europe, in terms of sales of full Hybrid models.
- In 2024, Renault reported a 9% increase in sales of its electric models (PC + LCV) in Europe1. The brand's range of electric models will be further expanded in 2025 with the arrival of the Renault 4 E-Tech electric.
Renault has made the ambitious choice of adopting the AmpR Small (segment B) and AmpR Medium (segment C) platforms exclusively for electric models. Unique in Europe, these two platforms enable the brand to offer lighter, more efficient and more modern vehicles, with more value for its customers in areas such as: driving pleasure, access to electric ecosystems, connectivity, space, etc.
Successful debut for Renault 5 E-Tech electric
One year after the Scenic, 60 journalists from 23 European countries voted the Renault 5 E-Tech electric as Car of the Year 2025. This distinction confirms that Renault's strategy is fully in line with international trends in the transition to electrification.
The Renault 5 E-Tech electric, initially launched in October in France, has recorded almost 10,000 registrations and is already the best-selling electric car in segment B on the French market for November and December 2024.
With this strong start, Renault's share of the electric passenger car market in France has increased dramatically, rising from 15.5% at the end of October 2024 to 23% in November and December combined.
2025 will also see the arrival of the long-awaited Renault 4 E-Tech electric, another important product for the brand.
Successful choices in the technological field
The technological options gave the brand a real competitive edge, and were enthusiastically embraced by customers.
- In 2024, for example, the openR link multimedia system with integrated Google, was selected for the 81% cars available as optional equipment.
- The panoramic sunroof with the "opacity" feature launched in 2024 is now fitted on the 42% of cars available as optional equipment (Scenic, Rafale and Symbioz).
- In many models, the brand has also developed a new version of 4CONTROL, the unique four-wheel drive system. 4CONTROL improves safety, agility and vehicle performance in all circumstances, whether driving in the city or at higher speeds. In 2024, it was fitted to the 29% of cars available as optional equipment.
Focus on quality sales
The brand's performance is underpinned by the core value-focused business principles, as pursued under the Renaulution plan.
- One in two vehicles sold in Europe are for retail customers. In the brand's five key European retail markets, Renault's share of the retail market increased from 6.8% with 264,300 vehicle sales in 2023 to 7.1% with 271,900 sales.
- Renault's residual values are higher than those of 2023, exceeding market averages.
- Vehicle sales in the C SUV and D segments increased by 23% and now account for 29% of Renault's sales in Europe (+4.8 units compared to 2023). With the complete renewal of models in the C/D segments, completed in 2024 with the arrival of Scenic, Symbioz and Rafale, the brand aims to continue its growth in 2025.
- In terms of upgrading to the richer trim levels, the top-of-the-range Iconic and Esprit Alpine accounted for 24% of sales in Europe in 2024, double the 12% in 2023.
A well-balanced footprint that gives the brand the flexibility to take advantage of growth opportunities
- Renault remains the best-selling French brand in the world. Supported by the first two Renault International Game Plan vehicles, Kardian and Koleos, sales increased by 10% in Brazil, 81% in South Korea and 7% in Morocco. In 2025, Koleos will debut in new markets and an all-new C segment SUV will be launched internationally.
- Also in Europe, along with increased passenger car sales, LCV sales increased by 4.6%. Renault sold 403,000 commercial vehicles worldwide, including 310,500 in Europe. The brand is once again at the top of the LCV sales league table.[2], as far as the European market is concerned.
- These achievements are mainly due to the success of its flagship commercial vehicles, such as the Kangoo (+30.5%) and the Trafic (+14.8%), in a transitional year marked by both the launch of the new Master and the expertise of the Pro+ network created exclusively to serve customers with corporate fleets.
In 2024, Renault demonstrated its ability to innovate and meet customer expectations. Building on a bold and well-structured strategy combining electrification, innovation and quality sales, the brand has now consolidated its position. In 2025, this growth momentum will be confirmed through new launches, starting with Renault 4 E-Tech electric, and the development of the Renault International Game Plan.
