KiaMotors noted during the the first half of 2020 high sales
in its hybrid and electric models in Europe and

market.
The sales of
of Kia's electrified models increased by 17.6% in the first half of 2020 to
compared to the same period last year, with 44,894 sales (from 38,173 in the
first half of 2019). Included in this sales volume is the growing
range of mild hybrid technology (MHEV), plug-in hybrids (HEV), plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and pure electric vehicles (EV).
electrified models now account for one in four of Kia's sales in the Europe (25.2%).
According to new data
announced by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), the so far
Kia's total European sales for this year have decreased against -33.5% to178,392units (from 268,305 sales that were in the first
half of 2019). However, the strong sales of its electrified models in the
brand have reduced the decline, resulting inKia's sales having a decrease of less than the -39.51TP3 observed in the wider European market. Kia's market share in the EU, EFTA and the United Kingdom
increased from 3.2% in 3.5% for the first half of 2020, marking a new
high performance for the brand.

Record sales for the
electric and hybrid cars
With the electrified
models accounted for a quarter of all Kia sales in Europe, the brand had
increase for both of its fully electric cars by 65% (to 12,522
units). With 8,715e-Niro and 3,808e-Soul sales, EVs now account for 7% of all Kia's sales in the EU, EFTA and
United Kingdom.
PHEV sales increased by 29.4%
(at 11,177 units) following the launch of the newCeedSportswagonandXCeedPlug-inHybrid, as well as increasing sales of theNiroPlug-inHybrid. In addition, sales ofMHEV models increased by 181%
(at 8,389 points). Kia's mild hybrid "EcoDynamics+" technology was recently introduced in the four-seat range of theCeed, while the brand has also
record increased sales of SportageEcoDynamics+.
The demand for the
KiaNiro's electrified range - which includesHEV,PHEVandEV models - has proved particularly strong (at 27,030
