IMPARATO

The development of the strategic plan for production in Italy is monitored by the head of the Stellantis in Europe, Jean Philippe Imparato, with optimistic forecasts for the Melfi plant, announcing that Panda production will continue until 2030 in Pomigliano.

Jean-Philippe Imparato, Head of Greater Europe for Stellantis Group, visited the Pomigliano plant for a meeting with management and a tour of the production departments, where he met with a representative of the employees. Imparato was accompanied by Antonella Bruno, head of Stellantis in Italy, Santo Ficili, head of Alfa Romeo and Maserati, and Gaetano Thorel, European director for Fiat and Abarth.

The visit is part of the implementation of the group's strategic plan, presented to Mimit on 17 December last year, which provides for the protection of current employment levels and the increase of production capacity at all plants in Italy.

Pandina until 2030

Imparato confirmed the upcoming plans for Pomigliano, which include the installation of the Stla Small platform on which, from 2028, two new compact models will be produced. It also confirmed the production of the current Pandina until 2030 and the start of production of the new generation.

The visit to Melfi

After his visit to Pomigliano d'Arco, Jean-Philippe Imparato went to the San Nicola di Melfi factory. In an interview with TGR Basilicata, the head of Stellantis for the European region confirmed the commitments made with Minister Urso during the presentation of the group's strategic plan and the projects for the Lucania plant.

The future models

The Melfi plant, Imparato explained, "is the future of DS No. 8, Stellantis' new flagship in Europe. It will arrive in dealerships in June, right on schedule, followed by the new Jeep Compass hybrid, which 'will be in dealerships by the end of the year. Then there will be two surprises, one for 2026 and one for 2027,' added the French director: one of them should be the Lancia Gamma announced.

Melfi will return to full production

'I also came to see the status of the new hybrid engine, which we are managing to produce ahead of schedule, according to what we told Minister Urso,' continued Imparato, who aims to always have one electric and one hybrid model in production at Melfi, thus meeting the demands of the unions: 'this will triple the production volume. This plant must quickly return to producing at least 150 thousand cars a year."
