The 765LT Spider is McLaren's new supercar

Today, McLaren unveiled the new 765LT Spider, the newest member of the Super Series, a year after the debut of its Coupe version. Of course, McLaren could only break a couple of records with its new supercar, as usual. So let's see what the 765LT Spider looks like and how it differs from the 765LT Coupe and the 720S Spider. Οι αλλαγές ως προς την “απλή” 720S Spider έχουν γίνει σε πλαίσιο, μηχανικά μέρη, αεροδυναμική και ανάρτηση. Η 765LT Spider, είναι το πρώτο Spider μοντέλο της εταιρείας το οποίο εφοδιάζεται με τη νέα carbon tub “Monocage II-S” η οποία προσφέρει ακόμα μεγαλύτερη στρεπτική ακαμψία σε σχέση με τη προηγούμενη γενιά της, μειώνοντας έτσι ακόμα περισσότερο την απώλεια αυτή σε σχέση με τη κλειστή έκδοση.

Mechanically, the 765LT Spider carries the same mechanical parts as the closed version. Its twin-turbo V8 engine, with a capacity of 4 litres, produces 765 hp and 800 Nm of torque. The 0-100 sprint takes just 2.7 seconds, 0-200 takes 7.2 seconds and its top speed reaches 330 km/h. Due to the shorter gearbox staging, the 765LT Spider accelerates 25% faster in the same gear (without downshifting), compared to the 720S Spider.

Με βάρος 1388 κιλά, είναι κατά 80 κιλά ελαφρύτερη σε σχέση με την “απλή” 720S Spider και μόνο 49 κιλά βαρύτερη απο την 765LT Coupe, με μία αναλογία ρεκόρ για τα κάμπριο αυτοκίνητα, στους 598 ίππους/τόνο.

Με τις διαφοροποιήσεις να συνεχίζονται και στο κομμάτι της ανάρτησης και της αεροδυναμικής, η McLaren πέτυχε μία αύξηση του κάθετου αεροδυναμικού φορτίου της τάξης του 25%, ενώ το νέο σύστημα ανάρτησης της, “Proactive Chasis Control II”, φροντίζει για ένα ισορροπημένο συνδυασμό σταθερότητας και άνεσης, τόσο στο δρόμο, όσο και στη πίστα.

The interior is the classic minimalist design of the 720 family, where everything is focused on the driver and there is nothing less and nothing more than the essentials. In the 765LT Spider, the P1's bucket seats (as they've come to be known, as they were the first model in which they were fitted) and the Senna's bucket seats (as they've come to be known, as they were the first model in which they were fitted) dominate the 765LT Spider.

The 765LT Spider, is limited to just 765 cars, with several of them already sold (specifically this year's entire production run) and priced from £310,000, or around €325,000 for most European markets.
