The second episode of Alfa Romeo's original series, "Beyond the Visible", is on air, once again taking audiences into the unseen world of Alfa Romeo F1 team ORLEN.
Entitled "Relationship of Trust", the second episode focuses on the intensive preparation, both physically and mentally, that the team's two drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, are required to complete. The preparation includes hard training, demanding tests and technical tests that simulate the challenges the drivers face in a race. The goal is one: the best possible preparation to achieve maximum performance.
To this end, a large team of professionals work alongside the drivers on a daily basis, from fitness coaches to physiotherapists and psychologists. Mental stamina in particular is crucial so that the driver can stay focused throughout the 23-race marathon. Equally important is body preparation, where the drivers spend time between the gym and the simulator. Strength and endurance are essential, as is maintaining the driver's ideal weight. The training is designed to optimise the human-machine relationship.
All the factors that affect the drivers' performance are taken into account, such as long journeys from track to track, jet lag, but also the stress that builds up on race days. The relationship of trust that develops between team members is the energy that drives continuous improvement and keeps motivation at a very high level.
