The all-new Kia EV6 has qualified for the final round of the 2022 Car of the Year (COTY) awards. The innovative electric crossover was included in a shortlist of sixty new models launched this year and was selected - by the 61 COTY judges from 23 countries - to the top seven. The final COTY winner will be announced in February.
In just one month since its launch in Europe, the new Kia EV6 has been well received by the media and prospective buyers, with pre-orders closing early following unprecedented demand for the new model. Thanks to its ultra-fast charging, 528km range and impressive performance, the EV6 is an electric vehicle worthy of comparison with many premium models.
The Kia brand in early 2021 announced a new name, a new logo and a renewed design philosophy "Opposites United". The EV6 is the first vehicle launched under the new strategy and is Kia's first all-electric vehicle based on the all-new E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) platform.
Jason Jeong, President of Kia Europe, commented: "Kia is proud to stand alongside some of the greatest models of modern mobility. Following the two nominations of the Ceed in its first and third generations and that of the Stinger, the nomination of the all-new EV6 is recognition of our progress and underlines our commitment to delivering sustainable mobility solutions. We wish all the other nominees good luck at the Car of the Year Awards."
